25.01.2022 KSA UPDATE - PART 2 MILANG RE-RUN / COVID 2020 has not been a great year for organizing events and sadly a few weeks ago we postponed our Milang Downwinder / Community event we were super excited about. ... The good news is that the wind for that weekend was sub par and a re-run is on the cards for 2021 Summer (early March 2021). In the meantime we encourage people to listen to current SA Health guidelines and apply them as fit to our sport which is generally safe and a low risk activity for transmission of COVID. PFD UPDATE KA/KSA have been involved in meeting with DTPI re; regulations to wear a life jacket whilst kiteboarding. Please be aware despite our efforts to seek a ceasefire on this law, as it stands it is law to wear a PFD whilst kiteboarding. What we ask is that if you are approached by DTPI about Lifejackets, message a committee member so we know and can keep track and please don’t be rude to those enforcing this bureaucratic nonsense as it will not help us. Our position is simplified as followed; - Kiteboarding without a lifejacket is safe as evidenced by lack of drowning incidents in Australia in the last 20 years, this is due to natural buoyancy of equipment - Other states allow no PFD to be worn within 400m of shore - Wearing a PFD can make operating our equipment more hazardous and the extra flotation is sometimes a hinderance (like a surfer trying to duck dive under a wave) KSA COMMUNITY PAGE ETTIQUETTE A few recent posts within our community (both on the page and off the page) have either walked the line or crossed it in terms of rude behavior. We understand that there are a diverse range of personalities, opinions and world views within our community and do not ask that everyone be best mates but please think twice about what is being posted. It is not our intention to heavily moderate this page or become the cyber police, however consider that we all love kiteboarding and want to foster a community that is welcoming for beginners and enjoyable to be in. Many of us have an entire circle of friends from the kiteboarding scene and on the whole it is a great community. What is posted online is almost always interpreted in more harsh tones than what is intended and the eDrama is not good for us.

25.01.2022 Hi Guys, Due to the Corona Virus, we couldn't have the presentation at the Largs Pier. So we decided it would be fun to present the KSA State Freestyle trophies over live-stream, but due to technical difficulties we could only film the video (Filmed 24/03/2020). We will also post all the winners in the group later tonight. Thanks to everyone who helped out and participated in making it a great event!... Cheers, KSA

25.01.2022 KSA UPDATE PART 1 Good morning KSA crew! A lot of work is going on behind scenes in the last month or two and it is time to update you all on some exciting developments. After about 16 years of negotiating with Holdfast council, Will Chapman has secured us an agreement which allows kiting south of Gladstone road! If you are not a KSA member already then we would encourage you to support us to maintain and expand beach access in South Australia as well as advocate for you on ...other issues such as PDF wearing. We have updated the KSA map which has been floating around in unofficial channels to reflect these changes, noting many areas on metro water have had access secured by KSA and require you to display your tag.

12.01.2022 (More details coming soon...)

10.01.2022 In the past couple of days, there has been increased attention from DTPI regarding wearing a PFD whilst kiteboarding in SA. As it stands we are still required by law to wear a PFD when we go kiteboarding. Kiteboarding Australia is putting together a proposal to qualify for an exemption, similar to that of other states. During this consultation period, we are working on having the warnings and fines suspended with the aim to bring our state into line with other states who h...ave been exempted from this law. We will be circulating a document at the Season Opener this weekend to collect some signatures in support. We encourage our community both kiters and non-kiters to get behind this and hope to reach at least 100 signatures. There is an online petition as well to support this, please sign the petition and feel free to share.
