25.01.2022 In 2020, it's more important than ever to talk about mental health and to highlight members of our community who are working hard to have a positive impact. Melissa and Leanne, the daughters of one of our own Kithbrooke Park residents, have been doing just that. To raise funds for Beyond Blue and raise awareness for mental health, the sisters undertook an impressive 30km trek from Torquay to Aireys Inlet, sold home-grown vegetables, and held a raffle at a home concert. They'...ve raised over $2000 so far! Melissa said supporting mental health is a subject close to their hearts. Mental health is everybody’s business and mental illness can be prevented. We need to have support services adequately funded to make sure they are available and visible to prevent the devastation of mental health challenges. He began his daily surfing sessions after being diagnosed with leukaemia in 2000 and has hardly missed a day since then - even when he had a stroke while in the water! For me personally it’s about fitness and all the things that come from being out in that beautiful salt water it’s so health giving, Geoff says.
