23.01.2022 Baking for the weekend. This is a yummy date loaf but you can also use it as a base for a banana cake too. : 1 cup chopped dates... 1 cup brown sugar (lightly packed) 60g butter 1 cup boiling water 1 3/4 cups self raising flour (sifted) 1 tsp bicarbonate of soda 2 tsp vanilla essence : Preheat oven to 180c (160 fan forced). Put chopped dates & sugar in a bowl & then add sliced butter. Pour in boiling water, stirring until butter has melted completely. Add sifted flour & then bicarbonate of soda, mixing well. Add vanilla. Bake in a well greased loaf tin in a moderate oven for 45-50 mins. Enjoy
