06.01.2022 Three contractors are bidding to fix a broken fence at Government House. One is from Wellington, another is from Hamilton and the third is from Wairoa . All thr...ee go with an official to examine the fence. The Wellington contractor takes out a tape measure and does some measuring, then works some figures with a pencil. "Well," he says, "I figure the job will run about $900, $400 for materials, $400 for my crew and $100 profit for me." The Hamilton contractor also does some measuring and figuring, then says, "I can do this job for $700. That's $300 for materials, $300 for my crew and $100 profit for me." The Wairoa contractor doesn't measure or figure, but leans over to the government official and whispers, "$2,700." The official, incredulous, says, "You didn't even measure like the other guys. How did you come up with such a high figure?" The Wairoa contractor whispers back, "$1000 for me, $1000 for you, and we hire the guy from Wellington to fix the fence." "Done!" Replies the government official. And that, my fellow tax payers, is how a Government Stimulus plan works.

06.01.2022 A sheep farmer from Queenstown attends a social function where Prime Minister Jacinda is speechifying. Clearly the farmer was not paying much attention, yackkin...g with those closest and even quite far away. Jacinda endeavoured to attract his interest with slower single syllable words. As she was doing that, she kept swatting at some flies that were buzzing around her head. The farmer says, "Yer havin' some problem with them circle flies?" Jacinda stopped talking and said, "Well, yes, if that's what they're called, but I've never heard of circle flies." "Well ma'am," the farmer replies, "Circle flies hang around these parts a lot. They're called circle flies because they're almost always found circling around the back end of a horse." "Oh," Jacinda replies and resumes rambling. But, a moment later she stops and bluntly asks, "Are you calling me a horse's arse?" "No, ma'am," the farmer replies, "I have too much respect for the citizens of this country to call their Prime Minister a horse's arse." "Thank you for that respectful explanation," Jacinda responds and resumes rambling once more. And the farmer adds slowly ... "Hard to fool them flies, though." See more
