The WA State Government has declared an extra $20,000 building bonus in addition to the $10,000 first home owner grant for anyone in Western Australia. ... Totalling the grants for New Zealander first home buyers to $30,000 when you build. If you have dual citizenship with Australia then you are looking at $55,000 if you are a first home buyer and you build. Due to the influx of work that these new grants will cause to the WA building industry, I can guarantee the margins of products, materials and tradesmans labour will go up in price and land will become more scarce and more expensive so its best to get in as soon as you can. 12.01.2022 There has been some massive news overnight of the First Home Owners Grant being raised to $25,000. I have done some serious homework on this by checking with the WA government and several other brokers within the industry and unfortunately for New Zealanders who dont hold dual Citizenship with Australia it doesnt mean much to us at all. Kiwis are automatically welcomed to Australia on Special Category visas so we arent technically counted as dual citizens unless we go th...rough the appropriate channels with immigration. We are still entitled to the $10,000 First Home owners grant if we build but we are NOT entitled to the new $25,000 amount. If you have ANY other builders or building consultants telling you that they can get you $25,000 for the first home owners grant or their company has special ways compared to anyone else of getting it then they are LYING. Unless you have Australian citizenship you are not entitled to it. Permanent residents arent eligible for it either. You have to be a citizen of Australia! Please keep your wits about yourselves whanau and DO NOT get sucked in by hearing only what you want to hear. Clients that have dealt with me over the years know Im a very honest consultant and if there was a way I could get this bigger grant for my fellow kiwis then I 100% would be doing so.
