17.01.2022 Dear Kiwi Hawthorn Rugby Club members, players, supporters and families, Thank you for your support throughout 2020 and on behalf of Kiwi Hawthorn Rugby Club I would like to wish you all a Merry Xmas. It will be nice to draw a line through 2020 and get into 2021, so with that in mind I have a couple of updates on our ground and plans for the year ahead.... Our Home Ground As you know, we have been frustrated that Auburn High School has not even been willing to meet with us to discuss their decision and under what circumstances we could continue to use the space. I'm happy to say the Department of Education has advised in the past week that the School is now willing to discuss our ongoing use of their sporting fields (John Gardiner Reserve) in 2021 and beyond. While we are still some way from a firm agreement, this is a significant step in the right direction and I wanted to share that good news with you and to thank you for the tremendous show of support we have had from each of you, that has no doubt helped bring about this change. We do need, however, to continue to show the impact that the School's decision to prevent community use of John Gardiner Reserve would have. If you haven't signed or shared the petition with friends and family, please do so here: http://chng.it/PFBCyHGj Thank you again for your support, I look forward to reporting further progress with the School in Term 1 next year. 2021 For all the challenges of 2020, and in the face of adversity, the Kiwi Hawthorn Rugby Club community has pulled together and united behind the club, highlighted by the fantastic number of people who joined our supporter group. In 2021 we will be looking to build on this with further opportunities and events to connect with our great club, which will in turn help us as we continue our progress on the field in building player numbers/achieving success - so please keep an eye out for further updates in the new year. In the meantime please stay safe and I hope you have the opportunity to enjoy a relaxing break over the holiday period. Merry Xmas, Mark Russell Club President Kiwi Hawthorn Rugby Club

11.01.2022 MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT The Kiwi Hawthorn Rugby Club is pleased to confirm the following committee for 2021: President - Mark Russell... Vice President - Pani Aupouri Secretary - Justin Bown Assistant Secretary - Anna Warrington Treasurer - Jared Hanna Club Culture Officer - Pete Taitoko Senior Mens Coordinator - Scott Baker Senior Womens Coordinator - Pani Aupouri Junior Coordinator - Nathan Miratana Girls Development Officer - Pete Taitoko Infrastructure Officer - Adrian Van Duin Senior Mens Player Representative - James Agate Patron - John Woodhouse And although not a committee member we are very pleased to have Claire Taitoko continuing as our Merchandise Officer. Thank you to all those above for volunteering! 2020 has obviously been a challenging year for everyone and our thoughts are with those who have lost loved ones through the Covid 19 pandemic. At Kiwi Hawthorn Rugby Club we still have significant issues to resolve, and work to do, to ensure we continue the history of this proud club, but I’m confident with the support of the Kiwi Hawthorn community we can overcome these challenges and we are already seeing a number of positives on the horizon for 2021. It’s been inspiring to have our past players/supporters rally around the club via the newly established Supporters Club and we will continue to develop this as we build towards our centenary celebrations in 2023. The Senior Men’s team are into their 3rd pre-season training for the year but the enthusiasm within the group bodes well for the season ahead in 2021 and they’re determined to make it a successful year. Pani and Pete are working hard to build on our successful junior girls program with the development of youth girls and women’s teams at Kiwi Hawthorn. The current junior Spring 7s program has attracted over 70 girls and boys, with the majority being new to the game, which will ensure the continued growth of our junior club. I can’t believe it’s already the end of the year and nearly Christmas so I would like to wish everyone a safe and happy holiday period and I look forward to sharing more updates as we launch into 2021. Cheers, Mark Russell Club President Kiwi Hawthorn Rugby Club
