In addition to tuning the instrument by adjusting t...he tension and pitch of its strings, he also regulates the precise positioning and alignment of nearly 7,000 action parts, and voices the piano’s tonal character by carefully manipulating the shape and density of each felt hammer. This profession requires not only expert technical knowledge and advanced skill, but also a profound understanding of music and piano playing techniques. It is said that the piano technician’s craft is easy to start learning, but takes a lifetime to master. Pricking the hammer felt just once, or turning a screw a few millimeters can influence the sound of an instrument. These are the meticulous adjustments performed by Ryuyo’s knowledgeable, experienced craftsmen and women, and the key ingredients to achieving the distinctive Kawai sound.

If your piano has yellowed simulated ivory keytops, please immediately stop using hand sanitisers before using your piano, the alcohol is burning possibly resulting in permanently staining the keytops. Recommendation is to wash hands with soap and water before use....
