21.01.2022 What does Today's release of the Federal Budget means for you? History will remember the 2020-21 Federal Budget as the COVID-19 Budget. But what does it mean for Australia’s early childhood education and care parents / families ? The Federal Budget commits $10.3 billion in funding for Australia’s child care system in 202021. This includes provision for the continued easing of Child Care Subsidy (CCS) activity test requirements until 4 April 2021. ... This means eligible families across Australia whose employment has been impacted by COVID-19 can receive up to 100 hours per fortnight of subsidised care. The aim is to help families return to the level of work, study or training they were undertaking before the pandemic.
20.01.2022 Children need to remain active throughout the day; promoting outdoor play allows them to get fresh air and explore their environment more. Hands-on learning, the natural environment and loose parts in the outdoors stimulate children’s senses through what they hear, touch, see and feel.
20.01.2022 This week in our Kindergarten Program the children and educators made stress balls to support their emotional well being. You might not think of stress balls as a kid thing, but let me tell you, they are. These super cool squishy balls are perfect for fidgeters, children with Autism, Sensory Processing Disorder, Anxiety and probably every child we know. They stretch, they squeeze, they are so much fun. It only takes a few simple supplies and you’ll have your own DIY stress... balls. Enjoy! What’s Needed ? Balloons cup Flour (per balloon, approx.) Empty Water Bottle, dry Funnel Directions 1. Put funnel into the water bottle, and pour flour through it. 2. Stretch the balloon around the opening of the water bottle. 3. Turn water bottle upside down and gently squeeze the flour into the balloon. Make sure to use some pressure because the air helps the balloon open up so the flour can all go in. 4. After the flour is all in, pinch the balloon and release it from the bottle. 5. The balloon should have a snug fit to the flour inside it. Just make sure there isn’t any extra air the balloon. 6. Tie the balloon and wipe away any excess flour from the outside. 7. All ready to squeeze away stress and have fun! P.S. If you find your child has poked a hole in one or a little bit of flour is seeping out through the hole, cover it with another balloon and you are good to go.

09.01.2022 Cardboard boxes can hold children’s attention for hours on end. The best kind of play with boxes is unstructured play when you give children the opportunity to explore a versatile open-ended material without an end result in mind. Simply put out the box/s and see where the play unfolds. However you could talk to your child and ask what they would like to make with the box. This week in our Kindergarten Classroom the children we able to explore their imagination by making their own form of motor vehicle from a cardboard box. Look at their end results!

03.01.2022 Why reading is important for babies and young children? Sharing stories, talking and singing every day helps your child’s development in lots of ways. Reading and sharing stories can: *help your child get to know sounds, words and language, and develop early literacy skills... *learn to value books and stories *spark your child’s imagination and stimulate curiosity *help your child’s brain, social skills and communication skills *help your child learn the difference between ‘real’ and ‘make-believe’ *help your child understand change and new or frightening events, and also the strong emotions that can go along with them. Sharing stories with your child doesn’t mean you have to read. Just by looking at books with your child, you can be a great storyteller and a good model for using language and books. Your child will learn by watching you hold a book the right way and seeing how you move through the book by gently turning the pages. Reading stories with children has benefits for grown-ups too. The special time you spend reading together promotes bonding and helps to build your relationship #bookweek2020
02.01.2022 *Road Safety for Children Under Five* Always carefully supervise children in traffic situations. It is important to: *Talk with your child about the traffic environment. *Hold your child's hand when you are near cars. Talk with your child about why it is important to hold hands.... *Explain what you are doing when you cross the road together. *Involve your child in deciding when it is safe to cross the road of course you still make the decision, but you are teaching your child to think in the traffic environment. *Always be a good role model for your child by wearing your own seatbelt, obeying road rules, driving courteously and crossing roads safely. *Make eye contact with road users, especially at intersections. *Involve your child in choosing safe places to play. *Separate play areas from driveways. *Ask if your child's early childhood service includes road safety education in the program. Take a look at the experiences your children have engaged in this week for Road Safety #RoadSafety2020
