23.01.2022 Renos: Doing some light sanding in preparation for painting. Sometimes it just doesnt pay to check out a weird lump in the paint. This just goes to show how important proper preparation is. Ive gone through multiple layers of paint and hit the original shellac on timber. The paint just flies off and is really brittle.

21.01.2022 Reno tip: Timber Mate putty is great for filling gaps in timber floors. Works with water for ease of application. Simply work into the space, clean off excess, allow to dry, then seal.

14.01.2022 Techniques: the tape test. If you are painting over a previously painted surface and want to check whether the surface is intact before applying new paint, do the tape test. Put a piece of sticky tape on the painted surface and then remove it. If paints comes off on the tape, then you are going to need to sand before painting. ... If nothing comes off, just make sure the surface is clean and then go ahead and paint it. The attached image shows paint that has come because water based paint was painted over low sheen enamel. 12.01.2022 Renovating tip: Best painting clean up cloth ever. It sure beats rags. Paint absorbs and does bleed through. One side is designed for cleaning off dust after sanding, the other for paint clean up. Can be washed and reused multiple times. 07.01.2022 What is that? Dulux Wash and Wear technology in action. Easiest clean up ever. The colour particles drop to the bottom leaving clean water to pour off (even caught my dog drinking it) on the garden. Then remove the colour with a rag and dispose of in the bin. Its brilliant and the clean is so much easier. Let me know if you want more details. #dulux #duluxpaint #renovating
