14.01.2022 Our thoughts today are with French herbalists Jean-Pierre Raveneau and Nicole Sabardeil who have been sentenced in the French courts for advising on and supplyi...ng herbs. Unlike the UK, herbalists in France are not allowed to practice unless they are registered pharmacists. Jean-Pierre and Nicole ran the Place de Clichy Herboristerie, the oldest herbal shop in France founded in 1880 - just 20 years after Napiers was established. It is the oldest and largest herbalist shop in France - younger than the Louvre but older than the Eiffel Tower. The two herbalists are Doctors of Pharmacy, trained as biologists and hold Diplomas in Phytopharmacology and Pharmacognosis. They became the proprietors of the Place de Clichy Herbalist Centre in 1993. In 1997 they opened a second shop on the opposite bank of the River Seine in the Latin Quarter. The future of the shops is now threatened. If you too feel strongly about the preservation and protection of traditional herbalists in France, please sign the petition to the French Minister for Health. https://www.change.org/p/marisol-touraine-protegeons-une-de Translated from Le Parisien: "The herbalist Jean-Pierre Raveneau was sentenced on Wednesday to a one year suspended prison sentence for the "illegal practice of pharmacy" which will be imposed if he practices again. The Paris court also sentenced him for the "marketing or distribution of drugs without a marketing authorization, opening a pharmaceutical facility without permission and smuggling prohibited goods (the herbs)". It matched the conviction with a three year probation. A year in prison and 50,000 euro fine were made against him. Herbal teas, tinctures, essential oils ... this famous Parisian herbalist on Rue d'Amsterdam, near Place de Clichy, is one of the oldest in Europe. Aficionados could supply themselves with a copper and pestle, unprocessed medicinal plants and mixtures prepared on site in a small laboratory. Hypertension, H1N1, prostate disorders, psoriasis, malaria, fibroids, herpes or extra strong constipation, Jean-Pierre Raveneau explained to customers that herbs are able to fight 80% of diseases. The problem in France, since 1941, is that the law allows only pharmacists to order herbs, and their agencies have a virtual monopoly on the exploitation of medicinal plants except for 150 of them considered non-toxic. The last herbalist working under the official order retired in 2000, at the age of 95. And Jean-Pierre Raveneau, although a qualified Doctor of Pharmacy, was not included under the order and did not practice in an authorised dispensary. "I always felt it was possible having a degree in pharmacy, to practice herbalism" Jean-Pierre Raveneau justified his actions at the hearing, saying he spent much of his life opposing "pharmaceutical monopoly" by obtaining declassification of vitamin C, minerals and trace elements, similar to earlier drugs. On Wednesday, the court also sentenced the owner of the business and another Parisian herbalist, Nicole Sabardeil, to a three-month suspended prison sentence and a fine of 2,000 and her company Pharma Concept was given a 50,000 fine. A reseller, Mamadouba Camara, was given a 3,000 suspended fine. All defendants will also pay 2,000 to allay the hurt feelings of pharmacists who took out a civil action against them. "To sell the products found in their herbalist shop, Mr. and Mrs. Raveneau Sabardeil should have been listed on the Order of Pharmacists," the court ruled. Their institutions are not pharmacies while they were providing retail "medicines" and dispensing "magisterial or official formula". "Mr. Raveneau created a parallel circuit by following the fashion of alternative medicine," explained a controller from the regional health agency at the hearing. "Plants are the source of drugs. They have virtues but they can also be poisonous. In 2009, he told Raveneau that he was performing an illegal activity, but it did not act to correct it." The accused pleaded "I did not issue directions, just advice. I sold plants and blends but not drugs. My goal has always been to bring well-being. When I advise on fighting (illness) it is to oppose it, but I've never claimed to cure a particular disease."

13.01.2022 Regarding my new role as Principal at Aminya Adelaide. Many current students at the Aminya Adelaide campus will know that I have now taken over as Principal from Wendy Norman. I look forward to working with all students towards creating a vibrant and dynamic learning environment. A wonderful core team of Amanda Collings-Wells, Sue Upton, Marie Steinke and Jerry Packer will be developing many ideas towards the continued provision of RTO approved courses in Aromatic Medicine, R...emedial Massage and Reflexology. Wendy will continue to offer her expertise in phytotherapy and aromatic medicine through workshops and curricular lectures. Her hard work, tireless dedication to Aromatic Medicine and passion is something I wish to personally and publicly thank her for. Aminya Adelaide will continue and expand on its focussed approach in the provision of continuing development for current complementary care practitioners, with ongoing training and CPE points. Many of you already know about our Academy and that it is a leader in the field. If you require any information, or missed the email that has been sent out to current students, please feel free to PM me. I am open to all suggestions and feel incredibly excited about the journey before us. We will also look at running workshops suitable for any of you who have an interest in complementary care. We need a community in Adelaide which offers safe, effective and affordable healthcare solutions to boost your well-being and the well-being of your family. 05.01.2022 So... It's been a while since I have made a post. I am busy in the background formulating and playing and developing a new business plan in my little studio. Stay tuned in the next few months for a new look and a new range. One of the major factors in self expression and honouring the plant kingdom is that as I blend, I also evolve into new pathways and new ways of being. While I am still offering formulation services in the background for lovely clients, I am also researchi...ng and designing an exciting aromatic range to honour my new calling. My challenge is to create the most beautiful quality, which is environmentally sustainable and affordable. So, I shall keep playing until I am happy and I look forward to greeting you a little bit further down the track in this exciting year of the Monkey. Happy New Year and happy Aquarius full moon! Scented blessings to all of you lovely petals xxxxx
