14.01.2022 It was actually about the practice; transferring skills and inscribing the story in young people. The actual creative act of making the book has been a process... of returning people to Country for the purpose of intergenerational transmission. The Nyikina , WOONYOOMBOO: THE NIGHT HERON interactive multi-touch book is available to download for FREE now via https://sharingstoriesfoundation.org//woonyoomboo-the-nig/ #sharingstories #sharingstoriesfoundation #StoriesFromCountry

07.01.2022 PLEASE DONATE The situation for Aboriginal Languages in the Kimberley is critical. The KLRC is a voice to government, education and the broader community. The organisation believes that home, community and on country language use is the key to turning around the status of languages across the region. It is the only regional body speaking up for the groups that don't have their own resources to bring their languages back to life. Please donate. The smallest amount will help.

18.11.2021 Kimberley Language Resource Centre of Halls Creek is committed to preserving Kimberley’s unique languages. The Kimberley Language Resource Centre (KLRC) was established in 1984. Its head office is in Halls Creek, one of the most remote towns in WA. KLRC works with language groups to create resources, upskill Aboriginal people and advocate for the continuation of the Kimberley’s languages. They have produced bilingual language publications for teaching purposes and provide linguistic support to schools. In 2008, KLRC began to promote its Language Continuation Continuum which set out an emerging issue for Kimberley languages. They are working to provide access to audio and video recordings so languages can be continued.
05.11.2021 The KLRC has funds from Indigenous Languages and Arts (Commonwealth Department of Communication). This will allow the organisation to recruit qualified staff with competitive salaries for the Kimberley Region - an issue which slowed the organisation in recent years. This will increase project activity - such as the sound printing of the Birrmana Nyikina Nganka wordbook - finished even though only volunteers were working in the organisation. A donation of any amount will increase our operational bucket so we can uphold governance and maintain the assets and equipment needed to continue #savingkimberleylanguages
