25.01.2022 Exercise tip: t bar rows Rather than loading the bar with 20kg weight plates, load the bar with 5kg or 10kg plates. Why? The 5kg and 10kg plates have a much smaller diameter than the 20kg plates, allowing the bar to come closer to the body and therefor maximising range of motion. An increased range of motion allows for greater lat, and other supporting muscle, engagement through a deeper muscular contraction. Blaithe has been working hard the last few months, preparing himself for the fitness requirements of the Australian defence force. For males, the minimum requirement for push ups is 15. 17.01.2022 Fitness testing is an essential tool in training that allows us to determine fitness levels, and also outlines areas that may need to be improved upon. Here we have a client participating in a beep test in preparation for his physical assessment to enter the defence force, where entry requirements are a 7.5 minimum. Not only did the fitness testing help determine fitness levels, it also boosted confidence levels, as this client smashed his entry requirements! 17.01.2022 One of my clients James leg pressing 500kg for 10 reps The feet are placed higher/wider for more of a glute/hamstring focus. The knees are pushed out to the sides every time during the eccentric phase of the motion to maximise glute activation. 16.01.2022 If you’re experiencing difficulties with hip hinging movements such as rdls, bent over rowing etc, add in a support at the back of the calves. The support allows the hips to shift backwards while keeping the shins vertical, maximising hamstring and glute activation. The support acts as an additional stimulus for the client. Simply using this support will not perfect hip hinging movements, although progressively, and combined with additional cues, hip hinging can be made a lot easier #personaltrainer #hiphinge #rdl
