22.01.2022 Dear Knaith Road community, Here’s some more ideas to further add to the list of activities you can enjoy whilst at home. 1. Visit San Diago Zoo: Go on a virtual tour of San Diago Zoo. This website has a multitude of fantastic learning opportunities for your children. The children can watch videos about animals and even check out live camera footage of some animals at the zoo! Also, there are online games and even activities for your children to complete. This is a must check... out virtual excursion https://kids.sandiegozoo.org/ 2. Go to Mars!: This is phenomenal! Although the website is currently getting updated there is still a 360 digital mode where your children can gain access to Mars which is incredible. Children can move around Mars and learn a variety of interesting facts! https://mars.nasa.gov/resources/21357/access-mars/ 3. Visit an Aquarium: The Monterey Bay Aquarium has fantastic live cameras and animal guides for those sea creature enthusiasts out there! So beautiful to watch and some of the matching music is so soothing highly recommend checking out this site for a fantastic learning experience. https://www.montereybayaquarium.org/ 4. Go Deep Sea Diving!:This was absolutely amazing to view, even for me! Go deep sea diving! Yep, you heard me! This website lets you scroll to the bottom of the ocean and discover all of the sea creatures! It’s truly fascinating stuff. https://neal.fun/deep-sea/ 5. Become an Engineering Pioneer: This is super cool! Take children on a journey to places outside their city, country, even planet! This website is a partnership between Boeing and Discovery Education. Behind the scenes videos transport children to places where innovation meets creativity and shows there is no one path towards success in a STEM career. https://www.boeingfutureu.com/virtual-field-trips 6. Visit a Museum: Inspire little artists and go on a virtual tour of the amazing Van Gogh Museum located in Amsterdam. It houses the largest collection of artworks by Vincent van Gogh in the world! https://www.vangoghmuseum.nl/en 7. Famous Storytellers!: Storyline Online is a great website that has a huge number of children’s storybooks being read by famous people. Go on a whimsical journey! Your children will love to listen to some of these adorable children’s storybooks. https://www.storylineonline.net/ 8.Watch and Make Videos: A collection of watch and learn videos created by the National Museum Australia! All activities have been created using materials from around the home or nature! In this particular video, you watch the hosts create a board game! Such fun! https://www.nma.gov.au/ 9. Visit Melbourne Zoo: Here is a link to the live streams of Melbourne Zoo https://www.zoo.org.au/animal-house/

15.01.2022 Our fearless Director Karen was diagnosed with breast cancer in October last year. Melissa, one of our amazing educators has unfortunately had several close family and friends touched by cancer. In honour of those people Melissa will be raising money for the cancer council by shaving her head and giving Karen the privilege of doing it! (Little does she know that Karen has been researching crazy haircuts!) If you can spare a few dollars please donate on the link below... https://shave.everydayhero.com/au/melissa-belli We will post a video and photos when we do the shave.

14.01.2022 Dear Knaith Road Community, Now unlike human people who are not allowed to meet their friends, the spoony people can! Whether you are young or old, get creative and make your spoony person to come and join us here at Knaith Road.... Don’t forget to give your spoony person a name, so we know what to call them. Our Spoonville will be located directly out the front of the Centre in the garden. Please see attached information to help assist with our Spoonville. (Please follow COVID-19 restrictions and social distancing) LET’S BRING THE COMMUNITY AND THE SPOONY PEOPLE TOGETHER

13.01.2022 The Department of Health and Victoria’s Chief Health Officer are urging parents and carers to keep young children at home if they are unwell, after a rise in ou...tbreaks of viral gastroenteritis (also known as gastro) in childcare centres. Viral gastroenteritis is highly infectious. Symptoms include nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, fever, abdominal pain, headache and muscle aches. Symptoms can take up to three days to develop and usually last between one or two days, sometimes longer. Infants or children in childcare or school, as well as staff, who develop vomiting or diarrhoea should stay at home until at least 48 hours after their symptoms have stopped, as they will still be infectious. If symptoms are severe or they persist, or you are concerned, please visit your local GP for advice and possible testing. As we are currently seeing high numbers of Emergency Department (ED) presentations and long wait times at the RCH, we recommend attending your local GP if care is required, as your child will be seen quicker. Anyone recovering from gastroenteritis should avoid visiting hospitals, childcare centres and aged care facilities to avoid spreading the infection to those most vulnerable. Any person living in a household with someone who has gastroenteritis should also refrain from visiting these high-risk facilities until at least 48 hours after the last person in the household has recovered. To learn more about gastroenteritis, view our RCH Kids Health Information fact sheet here: https://bit.ly/3l2CD86
