11.01.2022 [ Virtual KnH ] Official Welcome - Mike Dunphy, President of Japan Australia Friendship Association JAFA in Adelaide "This year the Japan Australia Friendship Association was preparing to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Kodomo no Hi Japan Festival. This unique festival has grown considerably since its inception and is one of the largest Japan related events in the country. A team of passionate and dedicated volunteers had been working for several months to present an e...xciting program of performances, demonstrations and exhibitions along with craft workshops, food stalls and traditional Japanese games for children. However, due to the spread of COVID 19 JAFA made the prudent decision to cancel the Kodomo no Hi Japan Festival scheduled for Sunday 3rd May at Thebarton Community Centre. But the volunteers felt that at this time when so many families have been living in isolation that we could still offer them a chance to enjoy some entertainment after what has been a long period of uncertainty and worry. So theyve put together a collection of videos and photos from our festival participants to present an online virtual festival. I hope you enjoy the program that has been put together by the festival planning team and will join us again next year when we celebrate the Kodomo no Hi Japan Festival at its regular venue."
