06.01.2022 Earlier today we posted about acts of kindness that ripple across oceans, over mountains and make a difference to the lives of others. There is no better moment then than to introduce our Knit For Life friends and supporters to two people who embody this sentiment a thousandfold. Alfred Chidembo is the founder and CEO of Aussie Books for Zim, a man who himself grew up in rural Zimbabwe and was inspired to create change in his homeland through b...uilding libraries for students who otherwise would never experience the joy of reading. It is in partnership with Aussie Books for Zim that our knitting community in Chatsworth rural Zimbabwe was gifted the communitys first ever library opened in December 2019. Simon Doble is the founder and CEO of SolarBuddy.org a man who has made it his mission to make huge inroads into solving energy poverty throughout impoverished communities worldwide. It is thanks to our partnership with the inspiring team at Solar Buddy that each student in the Chatsworth community was gifted the life changing gift of a solar lamp. 1300 students and their families now have access to safe lighting reducing the reliance on dangerous parafin lamps. These solar lights allow our knitters to knit after sundown, their children to read and study. During these days of lockdown, school closures and Covid, this gift of light has been truly impactful for our knitting community. When we say #togetherwecanmakeadifference it is friends, partners and change makers like these inspiring people who help make these words a reality. Kindness is magic. Together we are stronger.
