23.01.2022 Our latest baby blanket for a work colleague. I did 3 of the squares. Whenever someone in our team becomes pregnant there is a dedicated group of us that knit and crochet enough squares for the new little blessing, then myself or Amanda join the squares and create a border. Thanks for doing the joining and finishing on this one Amanda.

23.01.2022 Christmas crafting. Almost every year I like to make the little Christmas puddings. No cooking required and within my skill set. Easy to make and if I buy a big enough packet, lots of left over M&Ms. This year I decided to bake as well. Not just regular gingerbread, but gluten free and vegan as well. Even tho the vegan/gf stars took longer because I had to check, check and recheck all the ingredients, I think they actually taste rather good. Not as good as the vegan bikki...es my daughter can make, but yummy nonetheless. As if I wasnt doing enough on the weekend, I decided to have a go at making scented candles as well. What was I thinking? I think they turned out just good enough to gift, and I hope the recipients enjoy them because thats an activity Ill never try again. As you can see in the candle photo, Ive been a bit rather slack this year in the yarn crafting for Christmas. In fact Ive only made one mini stocking. Just as well Ive got stock left from Christmas past. Have a bo peep at my For Sale album. I have a knitted hanging stocking, some mini stockings and a few crocheted baubles. Let me know if you would like anything. If you would like something for next year, please let me know sooner rather than later. Note to self: dont wait until December to start Christmas knitting. Start my seasonal event knitting at least 3 months before because life always seems to get in the way. See more

23.01.2022 What started as a pram, cot or whatever size blanket has ended up being wide enough for a single bed. My grandson is yet to be born, so I have decided to stop and turn it sideways to fit the cot. He is due in the middle of winter so he can use it now. Come summer the plan is to turn it back, keep going and then he can use it on his big bed eventually.

21.01.2022 Spent the last 2 days spinning (trying to) at the local CWA art & craft fair with my spinning teacher Marion from Spinning Pets Yarn. While she as spinning huskie and sheep dog fur and merino fleece, I finally finished a second bobbin of sheep fleece. This morning I plied the bobbins into my first 2 skeins, entirely spun by moi. Now washed and hanging to dry, theyre not going to win any prizes at the local show, not even in novice class. Theyre full of lumps and bumps, what I like to call rustic. But Im proud of doing it myself, even if it has taken a year to get this far. I hope I have enough to knit a beanie.

19.01.2022 Competing against myself in the same category at the Dandy Show 2018. Third for the beanie and first and reserve champion for the gingerbread house. Never been a spare champion before, YAYYYY! Pattern for the beanie is my own design. Pattern for the gingerbread house by Frankie Brown on Ravelry. Knitted using 1 ball each of ginger and cream, the rest was leftover 8 ply.

17.01.2022 I was told before I started this throw that the colours are "on trend". Then I left on my trip and when I saw the colours of the waters and islands at Port Germein, the Great Australian Bight and around Esperence, I was inspired as the colours of mother nature are so "on trend" right now. I really hope that the friend I am making this for likes it as much as I enjoyed creating it. Approx 140 x 110 cm. Made from 5 balls of Cakes. 80% acrylic, 20% wool.

15.01.2022 When your sister gives you a couple of saw it, thought of you gifts, out of the blue. Now I really need to get my spin on. Ive just started learning how to spin, on greasy corriedale fleece. According to my spinning teacher Im no where near ready for alpaca. Maybe when I get on my spining P plates. I love the colourway in the sock yarn. Ive only ever knitted one pair of socks before and had to give them away because they didnt fit my at calves, lol. Ive been wanting to try toe-up socks, so now I better have a practice on some cheap yarn before I try this lovely soft alpaca/merino/silk/nylon. Made in Peru for a NZ yarn company, purchased in Tassie and now here in my stash in Melbourne.

13.01.2022 A beanie for Mum of the little boy who lives down the road. You cant see it in this photo, but it is a cable design.

13.01.2022 Its been a productive month on the needles. 3 beanies, finally stopped procrastinating and sewed in the sleeves on a little jacket, made a toilet roll dolly holder for a customer (the one in the background I made in the late 70s) and the bootees I made a little while ago and finally got to give them to my grandson for his 1st birthday as he is now toddling. Knitted in possum and merino, theyre sewn on to a sheepskin base. So soft and squishy.

12.01.2022 Yay! Finished testing the Soliloquy shawl knitting pattern for Notanotherhat. Twas a challenge to knit so much of something in 2 ply. Over 50,000 stitches. Thats just going forward and isnt counting all the wrong stitches. Thank goodness for rescue rows is all I can say.

10.01.2022 Theyre not going to win any prizes, but Ive just had my first go at hand stitching a button hole loop. Im happy with my efforts.

10.01.2022 Ouch. No knitting by me for a little while. Not broken, but sprained on impact with a reversing office chair. Sorry Kerry, looks like your French beret will have to be for another trip.

10.01.2022 Looks like my neighbour likes his new beanie. Moda Vera Florentiine Collection "Montagna. 62% wool, 20% linen, 18% mohair

09.01.2022 HOTH. Crochet star snuggle bag.

09.01.2022 When your grandson tries his beanie on for size before I cut the yarn.

08.01.2022 Critter beanie for the little boy who lives down the road. The whiskers are reflective under flash lighting.

06.01.2022 Little Taya loves her blankie and matching beanie

05.01.2022 While procrastinating on another project, I thought Id quickly knit up a simple beanie. I grabbed what I thought was a cheap ball of acrylic yarn from my stash and started the brim on the train on the way to work. My train buddy Kerry asked what I was making. I said a simple beanie. Kerry said (insert French accent) Ah maybee it could be a beret, no? I am going to Frrrance in a few weeks, pearhaps eet could be a Frrrench beret? Hmmm, I looked at the label. It was 50/50 b...aby merino and microfibre. Perhaps it did deserve something a bit more than a basic beanie. And so I decided to design a beret. As you can see from the middle photo, it took quite a few goes, a few samples and lots of re writes, but I finally came up with something simple, but beret-y. It even looks nice-ish turned inside out. This was completed in a lovely soft anti pill acrylic, so now to try it in the nice yarn. My friend has been to and returned from France ages ago, but winter will be here soon enough. See more

05.01.2022 Beanie for Andreea. Thanks for the order! My design. Acrylic / polyester.

04.01.2022 Hi everyone. Thanks to Jake, lots of you have viewed his new beanie and hopefully some of my other creations. If anyone would like a beanie like his, please let me know asap. Unfortunately only beige remains. $30.

03.01.2022 Ive been busy this month. Covering 3 roles at work while on a 6 week fitness challenge I also offered to test a pattern for someone. Its been slow going. Its felt like one row forward and 2 rows back at times. All I can say is thank goodness for rescue rows. Ive never had to use them before but with this project Ive been putting one in every 10 rows and I think Ive used just about every one of them. Fingers crossed I can show the finished product soon.

03.01.2022 Winners are grinners! Berwick Show 2018

02.01.2022 Berwick Show 2019. I think what I am most proud of is coming third in the entry for One Familys Work. Mum made spiced apple butter, my sister cross stitched 2 little pictures, I knitted a beanie and scarf of my own design and my teenage son let me use the trinket box he made for me when he was at school.

01.01.2022 WIP Wednesday. A Tunisian blanket and a 4ply knitted shawl. Both on the go since March.

01.01.2022 Well it took me just about all weekend, in between the usual weekend things to do and I had to get my teenage son to show me ever so patiently how to watch YouTube thruu the xbox so I could watch the how-to video, but I made 3 canvas tote bags. After a horrid experience in high school thanks to the home ec teacher, Ive never really been in to sewing. So I did have some help and a lot of guidance from Mum. Shes a great sewer. But I did all the sewing. Pretty proud of myself.
