15.01.2022 We are very excited to announce this one: TREVOR by Nick Jones. Part of NTC's Indie Season. Trevor is the third and final part of Knock And Run's Animal Cracker Trilogy (Year Of The Rooster 2018/ Circumference Of A Squirrel 2019/ Trevor 2021) a collection of animal themed plays helmed by creative team Allison Van Gaal (director) and James Chapman (actor). "Inspired by true events, Trevor is a subversive comedy about fame, success, and the lies we tell ourselves in order to k...eep people from taking away an erratic, 200-pound chimpanzee. At the centre of this hilarious and heart-wrenching play are two individuals fighting against a world unable to understand their love: Trevor, a chimpanzee who once performed in commercials with the likes of Morgan Fairchild, and his owner Sandra, who swears he would never hurt a fly...at least not on purpose. A moving exploration of family, flawed communication, and humanity." TREVOR by Nick Jones is directed by Allison Van Gaal and assisted by Stephanie Priest. Starring: James Chapman, Karen Landry, Lissy Shand, Patrick Campbell, Zac Smith, Ben Louttit and Marissa Saroca. Trevor | By Nick Jones | Presented by Knock And Run Theatre. August 18-28 at Newcastle Theatre Company.

15.01.2022 Next in our week of reveals: Two Point Oh! We are beyond thrilled to bring you Jeffery Jackson's sci-fi thriller Two Point Oh in April 2021. Initially slated for a 2020 season, Knock And Run Theatre's production of Two Point Oh will be an audio/visual experience you will not want to miss. Merging innovative technology and stagecraft with emotional, dynamic performers- Two Point Oh will be a night at the theatre you will never forget. "Elliot Leeds is dead -- or is he? A pione...ering software mogul, Leeds makes headlines one last time when his private jet plunges into the Pacific. Months later, his grief-paralyzed widow Melanie discovers Elliot's greatest creation: a virtual-reality simulation of himself that he masterminded before his demise. Programmed with advanced artificial intelligence, thousands of hours of his recorded thoughts and speech, and a digital re-creation of his face and body, "Elliot 2.0" is a talking, thinking, virtual soul. And though merely an image on the video screens of their wired, high-tech mansion, it -- he -- can answer questions, hold conversations, share memories, and perhaps even grow in intelligence and capacity. The question is...is he alive?" TWO POINT OH by Jeffery Jackson is directed by James Chapman and assisted by Stephanie Rochet. Starring: Ben Louttit, Bec Kynaston, Tim Turner, Claire Williams and Patrick Campbell. Two Point Oh | By Jeffery Jackson | Presented by Knock And Run Theatre. April 21-24 at The Civic Playhouse.

15.01.2022 One final thank you we need to make is to Marissa Saroca for lending her voice to Elliot Leed's security system. Thanks Marissa!!

05.01.2022 WHERE ARE THEY NOW? ANGELA MCKEOWN K&R: How have you been involved with Knock And Run Theatre?... AM: The first time I was involved with K&R was as a stage manager/production manager of "The Fix" which was written and directed by my partner Dez. I liked the feel of K&R and the direction they were going with their choice of plays. I also performed with K&R in the role of Gertrude Bell in 2017's "Ajax In Iraq". K&R: What have you been up to since then? AM: Since then, my little studio has thrived running private acting lessons for stage and screen as well as workshops for all ages. I've worked on 3 short films, a commercial and work for The University of Newcastle, Australia as a simulated actor for different departments (so I can actually say, "I'm a paid actor!"). I was part of the touring season of Stooged Theatres 2018 "Neighbourhood Watch" (I had 5 days to learn two roles!). I had the amazing opportunity to play the role of Lucky in the all female cast of Waiting For Godot and last year went back to musical theatre (after a 10yr hiatus) and played Tanya in The Very Popular Theatre Company "Mamma Mia" in 2019. K&R: What's next on the horizon for you? AM: Well, I went back to working as a pharmacy technician literally days before the COVID-19 lockdown. That was a wise move as the studio had to close it's doors for 2 months. Also, juggling 2 teenagers and during this pandemic has been a huge challenge. Next show? Well it maybe Steel Magnolias with NTC as I auditioned earlier this year and landed the role of Truvy. So hopefully I can still play the role if it doesn't collide with 2021 plans which is all so 'up in the air' like it is for most of us.

When an enigmatic new prisoner arrives and begins communicating in code, both men develop new relationshi...ps to each other, their captors, and themselves." The Unseen by Craig Wright is directed by Patrick Campbell and assisted by Hannah Hickey. Starring: Phillip Ross, Matthew Heys and Paul Sansom. The Unseen | By Craig Wright | Presented by Knock And Run Theatre. March 10-13 at The Civic Playhouse.

02.01.2022 WHERE ARE THEY NOW MATHEW LEE K&R: How have you been involved with Knock And Run Theatre in the past?... ML: I was lucky to perform as Steve in 2017's "Grace" by Craig Wright, which was a bit of a bucket list role for me. And it turned out to be one of my fondest memories working at the Playhouse, and indeed, in Newcastle in general. One of those roles that are a real blessing, and a really professional and focussed team which was perfect. K&R: What have you been up to since then? ML: In 2017 I was the Artistic Director of Stooged Theatre until we closed our doors - getting the chance to direct a production of "Cock" by Mike Bartlett at the Royal Exchange shortly after and performing in "The Dark Room" by Angela Betzien at the Playhouse helmed by the wonderful Vanessa Bates. As I live in Sydney, I was commuting up and down the freeway quite a lot these two years, so after "The Dark Room" I decided to concentrate on acting and producing work in Sydney. I joined Little Eggs, a movement-based devising company and performed in their productions of "Pinocchio" (Sydney Fringe, 2018) and The Rime of the Ancient Mariner (KXT, 2019) - where I met another creative Annie Stafford. Annie and I now co-run Legit Theatre Co., where we produce KXTeethCutting live staged play readings once a month at KXT. It gives Annie and I the opportunity to curate the types of plays we want to see on stages in Sydney, but also the directors and actors we love watching doing their thing in a relaxed and exploratory environment. Most recently, I have performed in White Box Theatre's production of "Table" by Tanya Ronder (Seymour Centre, 2019) and then their 2020 production of "The Campaign" by Campion Decent, also at the Seymour Centre, for the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras. In 2020 I was also added to the Red Line Productions team to handle all of their social media. During Covid-19 this has been a godsend as we live-streamed play readings through isolation to thousands across the world - watching performers like Alec Baldwin, Rose Byrne and John Butler working their magic live from their loungerooms. It was crazy! I am really blessed to be a part of that team too. K&R: What's on the horizon for you? ML: Good question. Covid-19 has thrown a spanner in my whole year, as I am sure it has done for many. We just had another Red Line stream this week, and we are due to have another all week next week - Will Eno's "Thom Pain" (based on nothing) featuring Toby Schmitz - so I will be working closely on marketing the show on social media. I was set to assistant direct some work at Red Line and 25a (Belvoir Downstairs) this year, but we are just waiting now to see what will come of this - I hope we get the chance to pick it back up post-Covid or in 2021. Otherwise, I am lowkey loving playing some Settlers of Catan in isolation and finally being able to return to the gym!
