14.01.2022 The answers to the last post were guessed by a few of you on this page and the rescue page. Awesome job! And here they are. The 4 ways in which an axolotl breathes. 1. Their Skin 2. Their gills (the fluffy antlers ;) ) 3. Buccal respiration (back of throat) when an axolotl yawns, water flows by the buccalpharnygeal gland which in turn absorbs the oxygen in the water.... 4. Lungs (axolotls will every so often come to the surface for a little gulp of air, especially when there is lack of oxygen in the water. HOW COOL!
