23.01.2022 A few of us were at the Council meeting last week. Curiously Cr Gill used his Committees and Delegations report to mention the KADA Public meeting and then to talk about a research paper being undertaken by Melbourne Uni and others. It was hard to hear exactly the point he was trying to make. It sounded like he was trying to put forward an argument for medium - High Density development on the basis of food security. We can only read into this that he is feeling pressure for supporting the rejection of C141 and was trying to realign himself with what appears to us from the outside a strong faction led by Cr Holland and Cr Lockwood.

22.01.2022 Come on Knox Councillors, please respect your community. 7.5m discretionary controls gives no comfort to residents. Developers are pushing the limits with applications in Bayswater and Boronia because they are confident that VCAT will support applications regardless of Council's position because discretionary is not prescriptive - just look at the 6 storey apartment complex that VCAT has recently approved for Station Street Bayswater - it is double in height Council's discret...ionary limit. Don't let loose planning regulations end up defining development across Knox, otherwise why do we need local government at all? Please support 8.5m mandatory in UFTG commercial area.

22.01.2022 More info about the rally planned for Monday 27th. We are hoping to make a statement by having large numbers of concerned Knox residents present. There is small hope of the Councillors reconsidering their position as many of the 9 Councillors seem firm of view regardless of the ground swell of community concern, regardless of their own internal advice and regardless of the recommendations of the independant planning panel. Some of our Community think that the Councillors wo...nt even re-debate the topic on Monday night, that they will shut democracy down so firm are their views. This is what makes the Rally even more important. We need the Minister for Planning, The Minister for Local Government and the Premier himself to see what is going on here in Knox and to lobby them to step in and take control. Your participation at the Rally will help us achieve this.

20.01.2022 No surprises here. Bully boys on a power trip. Only hope Planning Minister has the balls to step in and do what is right for the Dandenong Ranges with no personal bias

20.01.2022 Please show your support for keeping our Dandenong Ranges particularly the foothills areas within the boundaries of Knox free from over development. We really need all residents of Knox to get behind us and show their support by signing this petition. Please share with your family and friends. You can help make a difference. https://www.change.org/p/legislative-council-of-victoria-pr

18.01.2022 Rehashed version of Cr Tony Holland's questionnaire. Another example of these two working together.

17.01.2022 Here is the Nine News report on the public uprising against poor planning policy driving inappropriate development across metro Melbourne. It was encouraging to see the actions of our group highlighted showing people power at work. Thanks to Frank Sullivan from Knox Rate Payers Association and Upper Ferntree Gully CFA Captain Peter Smith who both feature in this report for getting behind our group and supporting the Knox community.

16.01.2022 Not just in Knox

15.01.2022 Was forwarded this article this morning. It is consistent with what we heard from Prof Michael Buxton. Now join the dots between what we heard last Tuesday, the data in this article and the diatribe Adam Flynn from Biggin Scott says in his video. The push for higher density development is not the answer. We are creating social problems for the future through ignorance and greed. ... 14.01.2022 "Let’s have a chat about what’s next for Knox: We want to hear from you about how you’ve been affected by these changes and also what you think we should all be... focusing on for the next four years, so come along to either: Event 1: Evening Community Workshop Date: Wednesday 7 September 2016. Time: 6pm 8pm (light refreshments provided). Venue: Knox City Council Function Room 3, 511 Burwood Highway, Wantirna South VIC 3152. To register: Please register by emailing your name and contact number to [email protected]. Closing date for registration is 5pm Friday 2 September 2016. Event 2: Community Pop-Up Date: Saturday 10 September 2016. Time: 10am 1pm. Venue: Knox Westfield Shopping Centre, 425 Burwood Hwy, Wantirna South VIC 3152. Community Space located next to iContact and opposite David’s Coffee. There’s no need to register for the Pop-Up, just drop in and have a chat with us!" So go on, why not go to either of these two events. LET THEM KNOW (politely and with the grace of your community behind you) how you will be affected by their C141 Amendment that has been allowed to forge ahead at the hands of some very questionable decision-makers who are CLEARLY not representing our local Upper FT Gully village. 14.01.2022 Another disgruntled resident expressing their view of the current Baird Ward Councillor

12.01.2022 With so much to do in the lead up to the elections we have been less active on this page than we hoped. Thank you to all those letterboxing on our behalf. We are aware the sitting Councillors have started their campaigns and there is much we still need to do if there is to be change come October.

09.01.2022 KADA and our friends at Uftg Society had the pleasure of attending the Dobson Ward reception at Knox Council tonight. Great opportunity to network with community leaders across FTG and Uftg. Community service and volunteering is strong in this part of Knox.

08.01.2022 And higher density living won't add to the congestion?

08.01.2022 We the concerned residents of Knox strongly urge our fellow residents to join us at the Knox Council offices on Monday 27th February where we will be lobbying Council to reconsider its position regarding height limits for Upper Ferntree Gully. We have been out pounding the pavement, talking to as many residents as possible, and there is overwhelming support for MANDATORY height controls in BOTH Commercial and Residential areas of the Foothills - Upper Gully, Ferntree Gully, A...lchester Village, The Basin. Discretionary controls in commercial areas give NO PROTECTION!!!!!!! Don't be misled that existing 7.5m Discretionary controls are good enough. Discretionary controls are not working in commercial areas - just look at what is happening in Boronia, Bayswater, Ferntree Gully and more recently a 3 storey approval for Upper Gully.

07.01.2022 Police have rejected claims they told an outer east mayor to stay away from a public community meeting about development earlier this week.

06.01.2022 We were forwarded this press release during the week. Something to keep an eye on.

06.01.2022 Thank you to all of the Knox Council Elections candidates who completed the KADA survey. We were impressed by the quality of responses across each of the Wards by those that chose to complete and return the survey. It was encouraging to read candidates views on appropriate development across Knox and also what key issues each would like to focus on. After careful consideration of each returned survey our panel determined the preference flows below. Some candidates opted not to return a completed survey and as such could not be included in our consideration.

05.01.2022 This amazing photograph, from Michael Shaw's collection, shows Upper Ferntree Gully dwarfed by the smoke rising from the bushfire that destroyed a number of pro...perties in the district on Monday 19 February 1968. The Royal Hotel and railway carriages are visible in the middle of the picture. See more

03.01.2022 What will it take for those pushing for higher density in the foothills to understand? https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10154576095049416&id=7390614415
