22.01.2022 Dear VCFA members, Following the announcement that Stage 3 lockdowns will recommence across Melbourne, we are saddened to confirm that no VCFA season will be ab...le to proceed during the 2020 calendar year. Under Stage 3 restrictions there are only four legal reasons to leave home. Unfortunately community sport is not amongst those reasons. All community sport has therefore been cancelled for the next 6 weeks or until further notice. It is each club’s jurisdiction whether you choose to allow training until tomorrow evening 11.59pm. If teams intend to train over the next 24 hours, please ensure you follow the return-to-training guidelines strictly, clean your hands and maintain social-distancing. As from Thursday 9 July, all community sport activity must cease in line with the lockdown restrictions. From the bottom of our hearts, we wish to thank our club volunteers, for your attempts to return to a modified season. It was an incredible effort to follow the guidelines put in place for the safety of our members in order to return to training, and your efforts have not gone unnoticed. We truly are grateful for each of you and your heart for our players, our clubs and our Association. Understandably this news will bring disappointment among our football community, as we ourselves are disappointed. We intend to keep open and ongoing communication with all our members via email and social media, to the best of our ability over the coming weeks and months. 19.01.2022 CHAMPIONS | A massive week at the CFFA Nationals for a number of our senior players! The Women won their final 3-0, while the Men followed it up with a dramatic 1-0 victory. Well done to all involved, a fantastic achievement! Unfortunately in the juniors, our U14 boys narrowly lost in the final, while the U16 boys were knocked out in the semi. A great effort playing multiple games a day and getting to the final stages! Sadly our U16 Girls and U18 Boys did not accumula...te enough points in the group stage to advance to the finals - but our players fought hard - well done! Wishing the team safe travels home and looking forward to next year, as Victoria will be hosting the tournament!

11.01.2022 VCFA SENIOR PRESENTATION | It was a great night as we joined with the whole association to celebrate the season been! Our Mens Force, Strikers & Fury were recognised as Runners-Up, while the Valour received the Fair Play Award for Division 6 On top of that, there were some fantastic individual achievements. Ailish Archbold (WPL) and Anthony Grande (Div 5) won the Best & Fairest for their respective leagues! Nathan Adams (Div 1) and Matthew Zillerman (Div 6) both ca...me 2nd in very close vote-counts! Amazing efforts by all and very well deserved! In the WPL Team of the Season, Ailish was deservedly named as captain! For the MPL, David Schout, Aaron Di Placido and Ryan de Kretser were all nominated for the starting XI, while Shane de Kretser, Mike Mawson and Christian Solomou made the bench. A really great honour to be recognised by players & coaches of opposition teams, so well done to all!

10.01.2022 CUP FINAL | In a strange way, one of highlights from the year was our cup final against Bayswater Strikers Soccer Club and great that we have some fantastic photos from it! What turned out to be quite an emotional day, the Mens Glory gave it their absolute all against a team from a higher division, nearly completely a dramatic comeback but falling just short in a 3-2 loss. 09.01.2022 AN UPDATE AND IMMEDIATE ACTION FOR KNOX CHURCHES SOCCER CLUB It is with much sadness and a heavy heart that I inform you all of the following decision: EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY ALL training, practice games, games and social activities of our club are SUSPENDED until further notice. The Executive Committee have continued monitoring the situation within our State and Country, as committed. Our basis for this decision has been the advice from public health authorities and the recom...mendations of national sporting bodies. Furthermore, the VCFA has also postponed the commencement of the 2020 season at least until after the Easter long weekend. As I have said before these decisions weigh heavy on my heart as I witness the social destruction that this virus is causing in our communities. Therefore, I would like to ask you to join with us as a community to create a positive vibe at this time and to continue upholding the values of this club, even more so now! - May we RESPECT our leaders and those making decisions that impact us by abiding by them and honouring them. - May we exercise SELFLESSNESS in the way we go around shops and engage with the wider community. - May we SUPPORT each other through encouraging messages and calls to one another. May no one feel alone while away from the club. May we be positive in our social messaging on Facebook and the like. - May we show UNITY in the face of this adversity with positive communication and encouragement. - May we act with INTEGRITY in all areas being honest and open with each other and trusting that we will get through this together. As a club we will commence our weekly newsletters this Friday and will continue them weekly from thereon. We will also ensure that we continue encouraging our club members through our social media channels - we encourage you to engage in these posts in a positive manner. We commit to keeping you informed of any developments from the VCFA with regard to our 2020 season. As a club we will also ensure that we act appropriately and with integrity with regard to your registrations and fees paid, once we know what the outcome of this season will be. Please note we will not be processing refunds at this stage. I would like to offer you the opportunity to chat to our chaplains or myself at any time. 04.01.2022 Last night at VCFA Virtual AGM, our club president Johann Poppenbeck was unanimously endorsed by all VCFA members to the honour of Life Membership in the Victorian Churches Football Association. Johann has been involved with the Association since 1976 as a player, coach, parent, and administrator, currently serving as President of Knox Churches Soccer Club. Throughout his time as a member of the Association, Johann has continually displayed a passion for growing the game of f...ootball, a servant heart to both the local Knox community and the greater VCFA community, a determination to achieving every goal set - no matter how big they are - and providing sound Christian leadership and discernment in decision making. We are blessed as a Club and Association to have Johann leading us forward and constantly changing the perception and conversation around how the VCFA is seen in the community and by every level of governance in Victoria. Congratulations Johann, a deserved honour for an honourable servant and leader within the VCFA!
