25.01.2022 We haven’t had a chance to sing the song at all this year. Here’s a special version from last year by the men’s reserves who’d just won the Grand Final. The Men’s 1’s, who finished the season as Minor Premiers gaining promotion, also made the Grand Final but went down in a shootout. #GoKnox #OutWeComeToPlay

25.01.2022 With a record number of calls to Lifeline yesterday now is the time to check in on your teammates, friends and family to ask the question R U OK? Start a conversation, you might just get them through a tough situation or prompt them to reach out and get help. But just dont do it today, every day is a good day to call. #stayconnected #reachout

21.01.2022 KNOX HOCKEY CLUB - COVID-19 RESPONSE No doubt you will all be aware of the various actions being taken around Melbourne (and Australia more broadly) to manage and limit the impact of COVID-19 (Coronavirus). Like you, we want to ensure that this illness has the smallest impact possible on our Club, particularly given the impending commencement of the 2020 season. Knox Hockey Club will be implementing a number of measures in the immediate future to help manage our risks:... - hand sanitiser will be made available at the Club to use before and after playing and eating, in addition to the bathroom facilities available in the clubrooms; - we will be encouraging players to limit their physical contact during games (e.g. instead of high-fives and / or handshakes at the start of games, consider tapping sticks); - signage regarding hand washing and illness management will be posted around the Club area; and - coaches will be asked to monitor their team members for signs of illness. Each of these measures will be put in place before Family Fun Day on Sunday. Family Fun Day will proceed as scheduled. In return, as Club members and participants, we ask you to please ensure that you follow the below protocols: - if you are unwell (e.g. displaying fever and respiratory symptoms such as cough, sore throat, runny nose); or - if you have either: returned from a high risk country as defined by the Australian Government (e.g. Italy, Korea, Iran or China); or - attended one of the schools affected by closures due to COVID-19, and are displaying symptoms; or - have come into contact with someone with suspected COVID-19, please do not come to Family Fun Day, training or practice matches. As much as we love seeing you, your health and the health of your teammates is more important. We also suggest that you seek advice from a medical professional before returning to the Club. Most importantly, we ask you to be sensible. We trust you to know how you are feeling and to act on it accordingly. We are continuing to monitor the situation and will advise you of any updates. Hockey Victoria has also set up the following website which will be updated as their position changes: https://hockeyvictoria.org.au/news/covid-19-information/ Please contact Stephanie Mann if you have any queries. #GoKnox #OutWeComeToPlay

20.01.2022 Congratulations to Logan and Rhys on being selected for the U15 Hockey Victoria Academy for 2021! It’s a great start to the year, and another step towards greater representation of our club at the top levels #GoKnox #OutWeComeToPlay

20.01.2022 COVID-19 UPDATE Hockey Victoria has now released an update on how the sport will operate over the coming months. Hockey Victoria have confirmed, as set out in the below statement, that the 2020 season WILL PROCEED at this stage. This is for a number of reasons, summarised as follows:... community hockey does not draw crowds of 500 people, so it would not be against the social gathering bans implemented by the Federal and State Governments; community hockey is very important for mental health of communities, particularly in circumstances such as this; Hockey Victoria will implement additional rules and regulations regarding the conduct of games, including in relation to sport-specific management measures such as use of face masks. This position will obviously be updated as this very dynamic situation changes. Knox supports Hockey Victorias position, and will continue to liaise with them throughout this process. Training and practice matches will continue to run as normal unless otherwise directly advised by your coaches and co-ordinators. We are also making decisions about how equipment is used at training to ensure minimal overlap between teams. Notwithstanding, the comments in our previous post apply. If you are unwell, please DO NOT come to training or games. If you feel uncomfortable about attending, similarly, DO NOT FEEL PRESSURED to come to training or games. Please keep in close contact with your co-ordinator and coach to let them know your intended movements. We trust you to do what is right for you. If you have any concerns or wish to discuss, please do not hesitate to talk to Stephanie Mann, send her a Facebook message, or email at [email protected]. #GoKnox #OutWeComeToPlay

17.01.2022 HOCKEY VICTORIA COVID-19 UPDATE - WINTER SEASON CANCELLATION Hi everyone I hope you're all keeping well during this increasingly difficult time.... I promised you all an update after my Club Forum tonight with Hockey Victoria. I am very sad to announce that a decision has been made to cancel the 2020 winter hockey season, as a result of the six-week Stage 3 lockdown ordered by the Victorian Government. Unfortunately, and understandably, HV has reached the position that the season as proposed is not workable given the likely path for Victoria moving forward through COVID-19. As with my announcement on Tuesday night, I am so, so sorry that I have to bring you this news. It's not what we expected, and not what we wanted. I'm gutted, as I'm sure many of you will be too. There's not a lot more I can bring myself to say at the moment - words are hard as I try to process this news along with the rest of you. Please know that I understand how you feel, and I am here if you want to talk. Obviously, there are a number of issues that will need to be resolved over the coming weeks, including in relation to fees and other administrative matters. HV has also foreshadowed a potential "boosting up" of its summer season so that we can get out on the pitch at some point this year - details of this are a few weeks away, but I'm hopeful we will be able to put all our epic pre-season training to good use! I'd otherwise like to take this opportunity to thank HV for its tireless efforts in keeping us informed and supported during this time. Most of all, though, I want to thank you. You have stuck with us, and I hope you will continue to stick with us through the rest of 2020. We are going to bring hockey back, somehow, and we need each of you with us to do it. Stay tuned - this isn't the end. Knox Hockey Club is a family, and we are all here for each other. We'll make hockey happen this year somehow - just not yet. Stay safe, look after yourselves and let's keep in touch with each other. All my best Steph Mann President - Knox Hockey Club 0458 602 860 (M) [email protected]

17.01.2022 #FlashbackFriday 2020 has been a challenging year. Lets look back to a happier time, 2014. WVL2, WVL2 Reserves and the U16 Girls Premiership teams and the Mens Pennant C team who were runners up. #GoKnox #OutWeComeToPlay

17.01.2022 Attention Under 15 & Under 18 players - State team nominations are now open.

16.01.2022 2021 COMPETITION SURVEY Well, 2020 sure has been the year of surveys! This time around, HV are wanting to hear from YOU about how the 2021 competition can run - across all sections.... Whether youre a player (of any age!), parent, official or coach, spend the three minutes theyve promised it will take () and let us know what you think. We know most of you are stuck at home - surely theres nothing better to do! We cant wait to get planning for next year and getting us all back out on the pitch where we belong #GoKnox #WeWillComeOutToPlay

16.01.2022 Unfortunately with the season not starting this weekend we cant share any photos of Round 1So heres a few from Family Fun Day a few weeks ago for you to enjoy in iso. #GoKnox #OutWeComeToPlay #KeepHockeyAlive #StayatHome #InThisTogether

16.01.2022 UPDATE AND HAVE YOUR SAY - SEASON 2020! I hope youre all keeping well in this crazy time. We have some good news - Hockey Victoria has started consulting on a potential framework for the 2020 season! Whilst there is still some uncertainty about what is going to happen, HV has put together a "worst case" scenario of an 8 week season - of course hoping that more weeks will be available. A table which sets out the indicative plan for each grade is below.... HV will be running COACH AND PLAYER FORUMS next week across all grades to get feedback on the positives and pitfalls with the proposed structure. The proposed timetable is as follows: TUESDAY, 28 APRIL Vic League 1 and Reserves - 6.45pm Pennant A to C - 8.00pm WEDNESDAY, 29 APRIL Pennant D to Metro - 5.30pm Junior Co-ordinators - 6.45pm Mid-week / Masters - 8.00pm We are super keen to get players and coaches from all grades involved. If youd like to participate, please message me (Stephanie) before 5pm MONDAY, 27 APRIL and Ill give you the details. We need to register you to attend by Monday night. Otherwise, HV is yet to make a decision on entry fees / their own fees for the season, as the scope of the season is still undecided. This will obviously affect the Club fees we charge for the year, as it as impacts on what training we offer and other pitch-related / coaching fees we pay. We intend to pass on any reductions through either a refund or "hold over" of funds to 2021. The Club is intending to wait and see what HVs ultimate decision is in relation to the 2020 season (including any fee reductions) before making any changes to our fees and processing refunds. In saying that, if you have not yet paid your fees, do not pay them. If you have paid your fees, and youre suffering from financial hardship, please contact Jenni Saunders. Let me know if you have any questions, and stay safe and well. All the best Steph #OutWeComeToPlayEventually

15.01.2022 PREMIER'S ANNOUNCEMENT - COVID-19 UPDATE Hi all, No doubt you will have heard the Premier's announcement this afternoon in respect of COVID-19. Unfortunately, metropolitan Melbourne will be heading into a further Stage 3 lockdown as of 11.59pm Wednesday, being tomorrow night. The lockdown will last for six weeks.... Based on previous Stage 3 restrictions, this means we are back to the four reasons to leave your home - whilst basic exercise is allowed, we expect that this will not include community sport. I am sad to say that this means our plans to get back to hockey are on hold, again. It breaks my heart to have to deliver this news to you, again. This is devastating, particularly so close to what we were hoping would be our season start. Tonight's training (Tuesday) will be our last seniors training for a little while - if you are free, well and wanting to get together with your hockey family, please grab a ticket and come on down. Juniors training will run tomorrow night subject to confirmation of numbers and pitch availability. I will otherwise be participating in a further Club Forum with Hockey Victoria on Thursday night to discuss next steps. I will continue to pass on any information I get as soon as I can. Right now, I want you to focus on keeping each other close, making sure your friends and family are okay, and hanging on for the ride. I have been so, so impressed with the resilience of the Knox Hockey Club family during these last few months. It has driven me personally to keep going and to get hockey back. I ask you to please keep that hope front and centre, keep engaging with your teammates and most importantly, keep yourself safe. We will pull each other through this and see the other side in a few weeks. I'm here for you if you need it, as are your friends at the Club. This is going to suck, but we can do it. The Committee has tonight approved the Knox Hockey Club COVID-19 Hockey Training Plan which explains how you can sign up to attend training, how it will run, and most importantly, what we will need from you to ensure that everybody stays safe and has fun.... The Junior season was supposed to start last weekend, and the Masters and Seniors this week. With the season being canceled, (for now, for a Summer season) no training or games to catch up you’ll all be missing someone. Why not reach out to a friend or teammate? 11.01.2022 RETURN TO PITCH UPDATE Hi all, Hopefully most of you will be aware of the new State Government restrictions, live as of 11.59pm last night, which now allow up to 10 persons (plus coach / instructor) to exercise together outdoors.... Knox Hockey Club, in conjunction with other Hockey Victoria and other Affiliates, are working through the new directions to determine how formal training may be able to recommence over the coming weeks. We are expecting formal guidelines from Hockey Victoria which will provide sport-specific direction of how the pitch may be able to be used moving forward. We hope to make further announcements in the coming week regarding the recommencement of formal training, following the receipt of those Hockey Victoria guidelines. Otherwise, keep your eyes peeled on your relevant section Facebook group page for announcements from your coaches regarding permissible outdoor activities during the interim period. As always, feel free to reach out to me if you have any queries. We cant wait to see you all, appropriately socially distanced, soon! All the best Stephanie #OutWeComeToPlay

10.01.2022 HV UPDATE Many of you will have seen the State Governments announcements yesterday which lock down a number of suburbs and postcodes in the northern and western areas of Melbourne. We are, fortunately, not impacted by these restrictions thanks to our location - a significant distance away from any of the areas affected. Training and preparation for the 2020 season will continue as normal.... HV has released the below update providing information on the steps it is undertaking and, importantly, reconfirming its commitment to the 2020 season start dates previously published. We are continuing to stay in close contact with HV and will provide you with any further information, including potential minor tweaks to competition fixtures, as and when it becomes available. Stay tuned, but most importantly, stay safe and keep up those awesome social distancing efforts!

07.01.2022 Congratulations Kate Our Women’s assistant coach, Kate Sandry, was recently named the Australasian Emergency Nurse of the year. Given the extra work this year due to COVID, what an amazing accolade to receive in recognition of her hard work. Anyone who knows Kate will attest to the fact that the welfare of her staff, and in our case the players she coaches and shares the pitch with are always front of mind. Loved by everyone, she is a caring and compassionate person. Kate was integral to Knox being one of the first clubs back on the pitch in May, providing invaluable frontline experience in developing our COVID plans and setting up the use of the QR code systems for tracking our players’ movements at training sessions. Brilliant work Kate!

04.01.2022 COVID-19 UPDATE / POSTPONEMENT OF 2020 SEASON - 19 MARCH 2020 Hockey Victoria has released the below update following recent decisions by other clubs to suspend activities. The position is now that the 2020 season will not commence until at least 1 May 2020, as not all clubs are in a position to participate at this time. This is obviously a significant change to how we had hoped hockey would progress this year. Knox Hockey Clubs position is currently as follows:... - KHC supports HVs leadership during this time; - KHC remains supportive of HVs comments regarding the federal and state government position that community sport should continue for those who want to access it, and are fit and healthy enough to do so; - the KHC committee will be meeting on Monday night (23/3) to discuss what and how hockey training may be able to be delivered over the coming weeks, for those that are keen to continue training during this time. We will provide an update to all members as soon as possible following that meeting. As previously noted, we understand that every person has a different perspective and approach on how they intend to manage the risk of COVID-19. We are supportive of all views, and again reiterate that there is no obligation to attend training in the event the decision is made to continue running. Seniors training tonight will continue as scheduled. The practice matches scheduled against MPHC on Sunday have been CANCELLED. Please contact Stephanie Mann should you have any queries. #GoKnox #OutWeComeToPlay

03.01.2022 Thank you, to everyone who has, is and will serve. This year has proved we are capable of banding together through different kinds of wars - let us embody the brave, fighting spirit of our ANZACs as we find our way through todays challenges. They are our inspiration.

03.01.2022 We havent had a chance to sing the song at all this year. Heres a special version from last year by the mens reserves whod just won the Grand Final. The Mens 1s, who finished the season as Minor Premiers gaining promotion, also made the Grand Final but went down in a shootout. #GoKnox #OutWeComeToPlay

02.01.2022 CHANGE TO SENIORS TRAINING NUMBERS AND TIMES - BACK TO (ALMOST) NORMAL! So, we can’t say we’re totally back to normal yet - but we’re getting close! Hockey Victoria has confirmed today, following State Government advice, that we are now allowed TWENTY PEOPLE per group at training. That’s a total of FORTY PEOPLE per session! Thanks to these changes, seniors training times are going back to normal, as of TOMORROW! In case you’ve forgotten - it’s been a while:... Men: 8.30pm - 10pm Tuesday, 7pm - 8.30pm Thursday Women: 7pm - 8.30pm Tuesday, 8.30pm - 10pm Thursday More tickets have been released for this week’s sessions on the relevant TryBooking pages - this also applies to juniors training sessions. We still need you to sign up and sign into training to allow us to comply with contact tracing requirements, but this should make getting a spot at training a lot easier! Maybe soon, we’ll be able to start playing games...

02.01.2022 HV UPDATE Many of you will have seen the State Government's announcements yesterday which lock down a number of suburbs and postcodes in the northern and western areas of Melbourne.

01.01.2022 HOCKEY VICTORIA 2020 SEASON UPDATE In more exciting news, Hockey Victoria has made formal decisions on how the 2020 competition will look once we are given the green light to restart! Some of the key points for us are:... - there will be no promotion or relegation across any grade - all of our grades will play one game per week, with the potential for one double header (depending on season length) - the season is likely to start sometime in mid-July or early August - the season will end by 31 October, including any finals series This news allows the Club to start planning for team entries and changes to fees, depending on the ultimate length of the season. Were looking forward to making some announcements in the next couple of weeks in relation to this. Importantly, we will shortly ask you to confirm your intentions for the 2020 season based on the information above, through a further (quick!) survey. This is stating the obvious, but we would love to see as many of you back on the pitch as possible! Reach out to your friendly Committee with any questions. Go Knox!
