25.01.2022 Our hospital recently marked another surgical first. Knox Private Neurosurgeon, Mr Ron Jithoo and the Knox theatre team conducted Australia’s first surgery using the latest in Neurosurgical technology. ‘’By placing titanium pins in the bone and using the new Brainlab Curve 2 Navigation for accurate placement through keyhole incision, the outcome provided relief of great leg pain and improved quality of life for the patient by allowing the resumption of driving, walking and ga...rdening, Mr Jithoo said. Mr Jithoo said the introduction of this technology, along with other robotic surgery options, means patients have state of the art, advanced surgery with computer navigated guidance for a better outcome, right at their door step. Knox Private’s General Manager Vincent Borg says the hospital has a proud history of adopting and embracing medical innovation to improve patient outcomes. We believe that pairing outstanding surgeons with leading-edge technology cements Knox Private’s reputation as a centre for surgical excellence, and gives our patients the best possible outcomes, Mr Borg said. #knoxprivatehospital Brainlab

18.01.2022 It’s starting to feel like Christmas @ Knox Private Hospital.
16.01.2022 Many Australians will remember the ‘Sid the Seagull’ campaign from the 1980s which launched the ‘Slip, Slop, Slap’ message. Some things have changed since then but our sun is still the same. In Australia, data shows that people aged 25-44 are the most likely to get sunburnt outside at peak times and are the group least likely to use shade when it's available. So as National Skin Cancer Action Week comes to an end we remind you of the importance of staying SunSmart. By using sun protection and preventing sunburn and skin damage you are reducing your risk of skin cancer including potentially deadly melanoma. So remember to Slip, Slop, Slap, Seek and Slide.

14.01.2022 Testicular cancer is the most common cancer in young Australian men. This Movember, Miss Madalena Liu, Knox Urologist says ‘Testicular cancer may cause no symptoms. It commonly presents as a painless swelling or a lump in a testicle. Trauma to the testicle does not cause testicular cancer although the traumatic episode may bring an underlying tumour to attention. Men with a history of undescended testis have a 5 to 15 fold increase risk of developing testicular cancer. Theref...ore men with history of undescended testis should be more vigilant in performing self-examination and be referred for scrotal ultrasound should there be concern and if the testicle is not readily palpable.’ At greater than 95%, the odds of survival for men with testicular cancer are better than good but for some men, long-term treatment-related side effects, mean quality of life is severely compromised. We focus on getting these predominantly young men back to living full and healthy lives. 09.01.2022 1000 ROBOT ASSISTED SURGERIES The milestone was marked by another successful procedure performed by prominent Knox urologist, Mr George Koufogiannis, assisted by Mr Kevin McMillan and the team in theatre. Mr Koufogiannis used the hospital’s da Vinci robot to treat his patient’s obstructed kidney. ... Mr Koufogiannis said the robotic technology has revolutionised urological surgery. From the ability to tackle far more complex renal tumours while still being able to spare the kidney, treat massively enlarged prostates, or undertake ureter and bladder reconstructions, robotic surgery has improved patient outcomes, with quicker recovery and a faster return to work/family life, said Mr Koufogiannis. Congratulations to an experienced team for the care you continue to provide!

04.01.2022 We remember them Today is Remembrance Day when we traditionally observe a minute’s silence at 11am if our work allows. We do this in memory of those who died or suffered in all wars and armed conflicts. We remember particularly the nurses, doctors, orderlies, allied and mental health professionals who have served our country, including many among the more than 100,000 Australian service personnel who made the ultimate sacrifice. "They shall grow not old, as we that are left g...row old; Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them." See more
