24.01.2022 Earlier in the year Anthony & Kristy had the opportunity to attend a Bayer event focusing on soil health and cover cropping (you may or may not remember seeing our post about it!) Bayer have produced an incredible video highlighting some of the work that has been going on in our industry and we may or may not show our faces in it a couple of time See if you can pick out who we are... take a look! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WULdv-d8SVk&feature=youtu.be

21.01.2022 It was a special happy birthday for one of our long serving employees today - good ole Footy. Happy birthday mate

20.01.2022 We are very excited about the paint, polish and rebranding job done by Mirror Finish Warwick.

19.01.2022 We really appreciate the hard work and dedication of our production guys who keep everything going and growing on our farms. We think Mat is pretty awesome - he has had a big season in Gatton and has just transitioned to take up a leadership role on one of our farms for the Cambooya season. Way to go Mat!

19.01.2022 You cant leave your phone unattended in our office, Otherwise you risk having your background hijacked All though it isn't such a bad thing to look at the chirpy faces of Brett & Adnan every now and again

17.01.2022 Hey Guys, From time to time you might see a little Q&A with some of our staff members! We want to share a little bit about some of the incredible people that we have working in our business. So, meet Flynn We think he's pretty awesome, but we will let you see for yourself 1 How long have you been working at Koala Farms? Almost 2 years ... 2 How has your role evolved since you started? (Where have you started and where are you now) I started off watering in Cambooya since then I have had the opportunity to learn what is involved with the planting and organising a crew, the agronomy and chemical selection involved with growing vegetables, amongst many other things. I am currently spraying and am hoping to develop further within the business. 3 Why are you passionate about agriculture? It has always been a massive part of my life as my Grandfather and Dad were both farmers and I have always wanted to enter the industry. It is pretty rewarding seeing a plant go from a seed to food on the shelf of the supermarket. 4 What is one tip you would give to someone starting a career in horticulture? Come to work with an open mind. Even if you have an idea about how it works. Listen to the people around you at work. Show initiative, interest and come to work on time. 5 Dream Holiday? I am a massive fan of the John Deere green so my dream holiday would have to be a tour of the John Deere factory or the wheatbelt in Canada. Keep an eye out on our feed to meet some more of the crew in the future!

17.01.2022 A couple of employees come across this little guy who was obviously lost #turtle #drought #weneedwater #wildlife

17.01.2022 On Friday we had our first tree planting day on our creek! A huge huge huge thank you to all of our incredible employees that took time our of their afternoon to come and help us dig holes, water, plant and mulch around 300 plants!! You guys are seriously the best and this isn't something we could have done without you all. A big thank you to Chris and Martin from the Lockyer Valley Regional Council for coming out to help us through this process! All in all, this was a successful day and we cant wait to show you guys what this patch looks like in a couple of years with some hopefully established trees!

15.01.2022 One of our goals is to manage weeds around the farm better. So we have been working on slowly replacing weeds with native species. This will mean that we don't have to spray as many chemicals to kill weeds, it will stop invasive species from spreading and the native species will attract beneficial wildlife too Our latest area has been in our water drain that feeds from the shed. This was a big job because we have had so much plastic flushed down the drain and it was litter...ed through the soil. So there was a day of picking out rubbish and a day of planting. We think this is the healthiest block of dirt on the farm because we have never seen so many worms in one bit of soil! We cant wait to see what these areas are going to look like in a few years when they have established You can also see we have strapped on some shade cloth to catch any more rubbish! See more

15.01.2022 Look at that for a grin! We had the Gatton star out to chat to Anthony about irrigation and water in the Lockyer Valley. Hit the link below find out more. https://www.gattonstar.com.au//plan-needed-to-ens/3810242/

11.01.2022 Hamed has been with us for a few years working in our production team and we think he is pretty awesome. Because of his leadership qualities and his commitment that he demonstrates to our business, we felt he was the right person to step into an important role of Crew Leader for our Baby Leaf Team. We are excited to see him grow and continue to add value to our business.

04.01.2022 Some of our managers were lucky enough to see Josie Thomson at the hort innovations conference in Melbourne this year and we knew that we had to give our staff the opportunity to see her too! So this weekend we went down to brisbane to hear Josie talk about fear, challenging yourself and building resilience. Thanks to all of the our gang that wanted to take to opportunity to learn and grow P.S - there are only 13 of us in the photo below, can you pick which ones we are?!

02.01.2022 We feel very lucky to have Deonie and Callum (our packing shed leaders) as they do an amazing job. Here they are following some of our COVID-19 measures of social distancing.

01.01.2022 Today we helped the Lockyer Valley Regional Council save some turtles ! These guys were in lake apex, but since the lake has started to dry up, these little guys have began to venture out in search of water but they normally just find the road and turn into speed bumps. We have an incredible lagoon in our section of creek so we adopted some turtles Here are some photos of the team releasing them earlier this morning

01.01.2022 Over the weekend Kristy and Angelo headed down to Neighbourhood Farm with Ben and Michael who are also young growers in the Lockyer Valley to attend a Young Farmers Connect - South East QLD - Field Day Neighbourhood farm is an incredible small scale, bio intensive, urban farm situated on an acre in Oxley. The farm is run by Matt and Micah, two young farmers passionate about local food and sustainable agriculture. We had the best time and met so many incredible people at this event and cant wait to go to more in the future. We have a lot to learn to become more sustainable on the farm but we are certainly working on it. Here's to the future of farming #youngfarmersarethefuture
