25.01.2022 Happy Mothers Day to all of our Mums. Have a great day.

24.01.2022 The Kodokan Judo Association (SA) sadly advises of the passing of the Association Chief Medical Officer - Dr Yung Yap. Yung volunteered his time with the Association as the Association medic for our competitions. This was much appreciated. Yung and his family are all part of the wider Association 'family'. He was a great person full of intellect and energy. Our prayers and heartfelt wishes are with the family at this sad time. Words cannot express our sadness. He will be greatly missed. The Association asks that the family be given some privacy at this time. Details regarding the funeral or memorial will be provided once they are known. Many thanks.

23.01.2022 CLUB REOPENING AS OF TUESDAY 1/12/20 Dear members, as of 1/12/20, community sport can resume. We must maintain the 1 per 4m2 distance and thus revert back to t...he previous number of people in the area restrictions. Contact tracing records must be maintained for everybody in the hall, therefore personal information must be maintained on the Covid register at the rear entrance door. We must also have a Covid Marshal present at all times and it will be their role to maintain the social distancing. I look forward to seeing you back. Hopefully we will still be able to have the Christmas Party if the restrictions are further lifted. Regards, Dave Gordge - Instructor.

21.01.2022 2021 SA OPEN JUDO CHAMPIONSHIPS will be held at the Seacliff Recreation Centre on 16 May 2021. Weigh in 9-9.30am. Start at 10am.

19.01.2022 VALE: Passing of Professor Shigeo Kataoka - JAPAN. It is with great sadness that we advise of the passing of Professor Shigeo KATAOKA (8th dan) from Asahikawa ...JAPAN. Kataoka sensei passed away peacefully in his sleep at home yesterday. He was instrumental in the promotion and teaching of traditional Japanese Judo in Australia since 1993. He was 82yrs. Kataoka Sensei was a great mentor and teacher at Goshin Judo Kan for many years. He was the leader of the Japanese owners group of the Goshin Judo Centre at Clarence Gardens, SOUTH AUSTRALIA. He was instrumental in promoting cross cultural exchange between Australia and Japan with the Australian Kodokan Judo Association as well as the Kodokan Judo Association of South Australia. He encouraged many high grade Japanese judo teachers to travel to Australia and pass on their knowledge. Our sadness and condolences are with his family and friends at this sad time. He might be gone but not forgotten. May he rest in peace.

18.01.2022 To all GOSHIN JUDO KAN members: GJK will re-open for regular trainings as of Tuesday 21st July 2020. Class times will basically remain the same however the Sen...ior class won’t commence until 7.15pm as the mats need to be wiped over at the end of the Junior session. TRAINING TIMES: Tues & Thursday Juniors: 6pm 7pm Seniors: 7.15pm 8.30pm Saturday Combined Junior/Senior: 10am 11.30am NEW SATURDAY MORNING CLASS: GJK will also introduce a Saturday morning combined training session from 10am 11.30am. This will be on a trial basis initially, and evaluated in 3 months to see whether it is worthwhile maintaining. The same junior/senior training fee will apply as for weeknight sessions. TRAINING REQUIREMENTS A COVID SAFE PLAN has been lodged and social distancing in the spectator area is to be observed. Everyone entering the building must use ‘Hand Sanitiser’ provided. Players must hand sanitise before entering the mat area. Showers are not to be used. Parents:- if your child has a cough or runny nose please do not bring them to the club. Seniors:- If you have any cold or flu like symptoms please stay away. Judogis will need to be cleaned after each day’s session. During the club closure, the club inside has been cleaned and disinfected throughout and the front of the building re-painted. A new countdown clock has been installed and a ‘pay wave’ system implemented for the payment of fees. This will eliminate the need to carry cash. After being closed for 4 months, it will be good to see everyone again. I look forward to the 21st July. Best wishes, David Gordge Senior Instructor.

09.01.2022 CANCELLATION OF STATE TITLES & OTHER KJA EVENTS UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. The KJA(SA) wishes to advise that the pending State Titles (SA Open Judo Championships) to be held in May are now cancelled. With the cancellation of the National Championships there will be no State trainings scheduled for 2020 either. All future Association Tournaments will be suspended at this time pending a re-assessment at the end of April. Thank you for understanding.

07.01.2022 ASSOCIATION CHRISTMAS PARTY CANCELLED The Association wishes to advise that the 2020 Association Christmas Party is cancelled due to the COVID lockdown. Although there are eased restrictions coming into effect tomorrow, indoor contact sport is still not permitted. Therefore it is unknown whether our clubs will be able to resume for the remainder of 2020 or not! As a result, a decision has been made to cancel the Association Members Xmas Party. We apologise for this, but ...unfortunately even if restrictions are lessened over the next week or so, it is unlikely gathering numbers will rise from 50 persons at a private function in time for the BBQ. It is proposed to have another type of social function in the new year in lieu of the party. Details will be released in due course once the world has settled again and we have some sort of normal restored. Kind regards, David Gordge - President.

06.01.2022 RIP MURATA SENSEI!

06.01.2022 The club received a freshen up over the weekend in preparation for a return - most likely at the start of July. Thanks to those who worked hard to get it done i...n the day. Logos removed from the front windows, new paint to the facade and entrance foyer, and a new count down clock installed.

06.01.2022 It is with great sadness that I advise of the passing of Sensei Naoki Murata - Kata practitioner, Author and Curator of the Kodokan Judo Institute Museum in Japan on Tuesday 14th April. A true gentleman - never forgotten. Our condolences go out to his family.

04.01.2022 We are looking forward to hosting the event and welcoming our friends from around Australia back to SA in 2021.

03.01.2022 COVID RESTRICTIONS. Dear members, please be advised that due to the covid outbreak yesterday, Government restrictions have been implemented resulting in clubs having to close for at least 2 weeks from midnight tonight. This may impact on the end of year Christmas celebrations meaning that the Association Xmas party may be cancelled. We will keep you updated as soon as we become aware of any changes or extensions to the restrictions.... Sorry for any inconvenience, but this is out of our hands. We wish for all members and their families to stay safe. Best wishes, Dave Gordge - President - KJA SA.

03.01.2022 Congratulations Yize on being awarded your Yellow belt.
