24.01.2022 ROSE GOLD ... is the colour highlight for this guest bathroom we presented on Saturday. We are mixing matte whites & Norwegian Rose marble with a rose gold glass mosaic feature wall. As this bathroom is in an 1860s home, we wanted to add a touch of the traditional, without using typical heritage materials. Here we have embraced the high ceilings and balanced them by using mirrored arches & doors to the recessed wall storage & soft concealed lighting. 21.01.2022 Back in April I posted about the recovery and successful release of one of our adopted koalas injured in the devastating bushfires. . With the news today that we may not have any wild koalas in NSW by 2050, I received sad news about our other adoptee LINR Paul, who passed away on Sunday 28th June. @portmacquariekoalahospital . The email read Paul was the first koala rescued in the devastating bush fires in Port Macquarie in November last year. ... He was brought to the Koala Hospital as a badly burnt, traumatised little koala. For a long time Paul sat in his basket in intensive care. Over the following months Paul responded well to treatment and his healing progressed as expected. In spite of a nutritious diet and all the specialist care that the hospital could give, LINR Pauls health declined last week and he passed away quickly. Unfortunately, some wild koalas struggle to cope and return to peak health after a huge injury such as Paul suffered. The Port Macquarie Koala Hospital volunteers and staff who cared for Paul for over eight months have been devastated by his loss. Paul touched the hearts of everyone who looked after him. 20.01.2022 This was my studio today....and this is my helper! Isnt he cute! On a wet and miserable Monday, the best place was at home in my dining room. Yes, I have a lovely studio, but I love a change of scenery. Do you like my framed art? Its actually an original Chinese Imperial Dragon robe, a Longpao. Circa 1840s. A Summer Robe. . It has been worn, as theres wear marks. Worn by a man, not very tall. I never tire of this piece. Its so intricate, with its gold and coloured... threads. Each symbol woven into the textile is an auspicious symbol of the imperial connections, such as the 12 bands on the sleeves, the gold dragons and the sea, land and sky represented. I had it framed, my framer sewed it to the backing mat, so that in the future it can be removed. Its such a shame not to see the back as its as beautiful as the front. 18.01.2022 So pleased to see our clients enjoying the new TV monitors in their waiting room. With Covid-19, many of my clients have had to relook at their existing fitouts. Many feel that until a vaccine is available their businesses will be run very differently. Its nearly 9 years ago that I worked on this Fitout design. Now all the waiting room furniture, patient check in monitors, magazines and iPads games area, have been removed. Only patients are allowed in, family are not wait...ing inside the surgery. Its all about keeping their business Covid negative. 15.01.2022 As part of the existing surgery that we worked on a few years ago, the Shopfitter continued our finishes & materials into the new surgery extension, a new respiratory clinic. We were invited to provide some interesting features to a small space. We have just installed a new mural to compliment the artworks we recently installed. The theme of the mural continues the natural images we designed for the original surgery. The colours are based on the clients logo and their corp...orate colours. Due to being a Covid -19 testing facility, this mural is film and can be sanitised by washing or fogging. We still have to install the vinyl wallcovering. 14.01.2022 On site selection finalised for a young ladys rug for her bedroom! This handknotted rug @designerrugs will be custom made for our client, in a much larger custom size. Note how beautiful it looks with our Venetian plaster walls! The rug had to be feminine and elegant and suit this young adults taste. It will grow with her as she grows up too. I think our clients window seat would be the perfect place! This area was part of a larger renovation. 01.01.2022 This week marks the 20 Year Anniversary for Koedam Design! A truly proud moment...we take a look back at some of our projects! We have worked on some amazing projects over this time, from commercial to residential, doctors surgeries to hospitals, daycares to High schools to business colleges, from small residential designs to multi million dollar full building & renovations. Our work can be seen in all states of Australia and as far away as the UK. We have loved the multi... store fitouts as well as the individual hairdressers & day spas, from city penthouses to country farms, even an exhibition event at the casino, a ferry scheme, garden designs, & many individual kitchens and bathrooms...its been a blast! We have made so many wonderful friends of our clients, we have watched our clients families grow & babies born, divorces too. We have enjoyed our travel with our projects & clients, we have seen small projects grow into multi million businesses and enjoyed the design journey along the way, we have seen a client go to jail halfway through a project too, but thats another story!
