24.01.2022 Hello Everyone, I am sure by now you would have heard about the terrible fires on Kangaroo Island. It has been a truly horrific and emotional time for our tight knit community and sadly the danger isn't over just yet. I would like to thank those that have reached out and messaged us, we are safe in Kingscote, unfortunately some of our Island wasn't as you can see by the map. So many people want to know how they can help... our local council has set up a mayor fund to raise mo...ney to be given directly to the families affected by the fire so they purchase immediately what they need. If you would like to donate to this click on the following link, every little bit helps https://www.kangarooisland.sa.gov.au//ki-mayoral-relief-an Secondly we still need the tourist to come to Kangaroo Island. Not necessarily right now as the fire is still active, and we need a minute to collect our thoughts, but in the months to come we will need the support of the tourist to help our battered economy.If you have a booking with an accommodation provider in an unaffected area in the next few months, please delay in cancelling your reservation. Your safety is our priority and we will contact you if it is not safe to travel. There is still so many wonderful places to visit and many businesses ready to welcome you. Alternatively you can purchase our kangaroo island products either online or in the shops such as eggs, honey, eucalyptus oil, gin.... the list goes on. 18.01.2022 Kohinoor Getaway hasn't always been a holiday house. Built by my father-in-law for his father-in-law in the 70's it was an ordinary suburban home for 30+ years. Now owned by my husband we have made many changes inside and out over the past 10 years but 1 thing we can't bring ourselves to part with is the old fruit trees. As you can see the peach tree is still a prolific fruiter as is the apricot tree that we picked earlier in the month.
