25.01.2022 Our beautiful regular @grace_donnelly knows how to eat oysters like a pro. And doesn't she just look fabulous doing it? Here are 3 quick tips on how to fully enjoy your oyster: 1. Ditch the fork ... Not only is it convenient, but eating the meat directly from the shell gives a complete experience of the oyster, as the shell and liquid add their own flavours to the dish. If you’re given an oyster fork, feel free to use it to make sure that the meat is free from the shell, but if you don’t have one, your finger will do just fine. 2. Chewing is recommended. While it may seem like oyster aficionados are slurping down shellfish like a shot of tequila, chewing is an essential part of really tasting an oyster. All of the oyster’s sweetness is in the meat, so those that rush through are missing half the experience. 3. Don’t forget the wine. While this isn’t a rule of oyster eating, the right wine can enhance and draw out certain aspects of a wine, and vice versa. Chablis is often considered a classic pairing for oysters because of the ancient marine fossils and oyster shells found in the region’s limestone soil. See more
