25.01.2022 Anyone who has walked the Kokoda Trail has heard of Captain Sam Templeton.....good to put a face to the name! Lest we forget.

23.01.2022 Well today is Day 10 and the last day of the trek, today is party day; either at the Port Moresby Yacht Club, or back in Cairns, or both! You get to enjoy your first hot shower in 10 days and celebrate completing the 96km Kokoda trek! Enjoy some memories from the past few years!

20.01.2022 Today's highlights brought to you by Oct 2019, show trekkers finishing the trek, (yesterday), and then what they do on Day 9, which is look around the Kokoda plataeu and musuem. They then travel to Soputa Village where they receive a cultural welcome and an afternoon of footy in the river... a much different pace to trekking, although the kids (and some trekkers), are quite competive!

19.01.2022 Caption this! It's really not hard to find silly pics of Olly, and here he is with birthday boy Benno! Benno is one of our trek leaders who has led treks to Kokoda and Vanuatu, represented Adventure Bound in the Reef to Reef MTB race, and has accompanied Olly on many adventures! Happy Birthday Benno, we hope you are having a great day!

15.01.2022 Sunsets from this Village are the best! Do you know where it is??

15.01.2022 Just us checking in! Olly talking and me nodding...

14.01.2022 Day 7 and ANZAC eve! Today takes us from Templeton's Crossing down to Eora ck, up to Aola, then onto Con's Rock (for our ANZAC trek), or Isurava Battlesite for our other treks. Our 2019 September Superstars feature in tonight's highlights, with the still photos from this day last year!

09.01.2022 ON THIS DAY: The Kokoda Track campaign began in World War II. A Japanese invasion force landed at Gona on the north coast of Papua on 21 July 1942, forcing the ...Australians into a battle fought in appalling conditions over the next four months. The Japanese objective was to capture Port Moresby, the main Australian base in New Guinea, by an overland strike across the Owen Stanley Range. The most direct way across these rugged mountains was by a jungle pathway known as the Kokoda Track (also known as the Kokoda Trail). During the next four months, until 16 November 1942, Australian soldiers fought the Japanese, first to keep them from reaching Port Moresby and then to push them back over the Owen Stanleys to their north coast strongholds at Buna, Gona and Sanananda. More than 600 Australians were killed and some 1680 wounded during perhaps the most significant battle fought by Australians in World War II. Lest we forget. * Source: The Anzac Portal/DVA. A wounded digger is brought in by Papuan carriers on the Kokoda track. It is said that no living soldier was ever abandoned by the bearers, not even during heavy combat. Their compassion for the wounded and sick earned them the eternal gratitude of the Australian soldiers, who called them "Fuzzy Wuzzy Angels". Legends, all. (AWM 013641)

08.01.2022 Day 4 is another big one!! Nauro down to the Brown River swamp then through Agulogo, lunch at Menari, then a big climb up to the battlefield of Brigade hill! Today's highlight is brought to you by the trekkers of July 2019!!

07.01.2022 Found another photo for you all to have a go at...Friday fun, caption this!

06.01.2022 A great reminder...lest we forget!

05.01.2022 Today we bring you memories of the ANZAC Day dawn service, at the Isurava Memorial, from the past 4 years! The last walking day of the trek, and the day you walk under the arches into Kokoda!

05.01.2022 Friday fun! Caption this....

04.01.2022 Day 6 is definitely the easiest walking day of the trek! Walking across the top of the Range through the Moss Forest from Digger's, or Bomber's Camp, to the beautiful Templeton's Crossing for a refreshing swim! Today's highlights brought to you by the August trekker's of 2019!

04.01.2022 Everyone's highlight of Day 5 is always the emotional service at Brigade Hill! We never have great footage of it, because everyone is too busy wiping their eyes! At the end of the service our awesome porters sing "Coming Home!" xx

04.01.2022 We found a plane...cheap flights to PNG! Anyone? Anyone??

03.01.2022 In 1918, Australia made a promise never to forget the service and sacrifice of 416,000 Australians who enlisted and over 60,000 who died in WW1. For over 100 years, we have kept this promise. We remember them still and the countless others who went after them, Lest we forget.

02.01.2022 75 years ago today, we celebrated the greatest national effort in Australia’s history - the end of the Second World War. Out of a population of 7 million people..., 1 million Australians put on our uniform and made the silent promise to give their lives for their country, if need be. Almost 40,000 gave their lives. Today we say thank you to those who served. They helped win a war, secure the peace, and along with so many more, saved humanity. Their deeds will not be forgotten. In our time with our own struggles, we will draw strength from their example. [This photo was taken in Bourke Street, Melbourne on August 15, 1945 : Australian War Memorial.]

01.01.2022 Day 3!! Looking back over a few years of trek photos, I came across many pictures of the same thing on Day 3....check it out!

01.01.2022 One of the first people to congratulate you once you walk under the arches at Kokoda is our main man Stanley! Stanley organises all the logistics in PNG, and we couldn't do what we do without him! Olly first met Stanley when he was a porter on a RSL Kokoda trek, and they formed a great friendship and partnership. We have been in regular contact with Stanley during the COVID crisis, he is doing well, and we will continue to support him and his family during this time! We will see you under the arches again soon Stanley!

01.01.2022 Happy Independence Day to our PNG Family! xx

01.01.2022 Thinking of our PNG family! Here is our amazing Head Chef, Freddie and baby Belinda, at Soputa Village. Belinda recently turned 1!

01.01.2022 Thank you to our Fuzzy Wuzzy angels, past and present for your sacrifice and service!
