24.01.2022 Today we celebrate our first junior dancer Charly, who was awarded JUNIOR STAR for 2020 She’s a natural performer, skilled, super coordinated and hard working at such a young age, all the ingredients for an amazing dance future! Looking forward to seeing you reach amazing things Charly! ... I started with Koko in Term 4 this year. I started dancing at physical culture (pronounced fizzy) when I was 3 and am about to turn 11. Physie is done bare foot and your feet always need to be pointed with turn out - so starting at Koko was really different and weird! But I love how fun Koko is, how I can challenge myself and how I felt welcome from the start. Dancing is everything to me because I can challenge myself learning something new, I love sharing how excited I get and it makes me happy to just dance in the moment. Whenever we are out somewhere, mum's always telling me to just walk normally and stop dancing - but that's never going to happen! 19.01.2022 Our next Kokodancer feature is the beautiful Mikaela @mikaelaannesergi who has worked so hard consistently this year, brings energy, enthusiasm and positivity to every class, and earned the award for Most Improved Congratulations Mikaela I have danced with Kokoloco for over 2 years and words cannot describe how much I have grown as a person. ... I have made so many close friendships and have been able to perform all over Canberra with so many amazing women. 2020 has been a huge battle for many people. This year dance honestly saved me and I cannot thank the studio enough for everyone’s love and support throughout the months when it was particularly hard. You have helped me become a wiser, stronger and more confident person and helped me realise my potential when I didn’t always see it in myself. From the beginning I have loved how positive and empowering the studio is. Kokoloco embraces everyone’s individuality and uniqueness and we end up learning to just love who we are. 13.01.2022 Our next Kokodancer feature is the multi talented Lisa @lkb_dance who won the award for Latin Shines She has danced through pregnancies, with her babies and now with them watching her in class Very inspiring, and a great example of dancing through everything, and how amazing dance is for the body & mind ... My intro to Kokoloco was through the Kokomama’s program with my mums group and I was so relieved to find a studio to come with my little one but also getting to do my dancing and be part of a community. My love for the studio has only grown with multicultural performances, Latin dance championships and the amazing shines programs. Dance is more than a hobby for me, it’s always been a big part of my life and brings me so much joy. Finding a studio that will provide challenging and supportive dance programs for adults (rather than being in a room of 16 year olds) is rare and I am so glad I found Kokoloco. #kokoloco #kokolocodancestudio #kokolove #latinshines
