18.01.2022 Don’t let one bad interview deter you I remember the time I went for an interview and I had sent 5 different copies of my resume out at the time and pretty much-lost track of the one I sent to each agency. When I look back on that now and know what I know today, I really feel for the young job seekers with little or no experience in interviewing techniques. I still remember the interview, it was like yesterday. And by the way, this was before I even thought of getting into ...the recruitment industry. I sat down with the recruiter she was going through my resume with a fine-tooth I was pretty nervous as this was my first real interview with a recruitment agency most interviews I had was in face to face in a restaurant for a waiter job. I was nervous and I wasn’t sure which resume she got.. I took in a hard copy with me just in case however the one I had was completely different to the one she had lol She caught me out with my employment dates and by that time I knew I didn’t get the job lol plus I had wasted her time. 02.01.2022 I’d like to take a minute to introduce myself to my new found online audience. This is pretty raw and real as it gets. Hi! My name is Ben and I’m from Melbourne. I’ve been in the Sheet Metal and Fabrication industry for 5 years in a different capacity as an Industrial Recruiter and I’ve been in the recruitment industry over 10 years recruiting from the shop floor through to senior management. Having recruited top Welders/ Fabricators/ Boilermakers and anything on the shop fl...oor, it makes me appreciate the work and the skill level required to produce such fine work. Though I can't weld or use a Brake press machine if my life depended on it. I like the finish products at the end. Definitely takes skill and all but I’m most passionate about the Sheet Metal and Fabrication industry. It makes you appreciate how things are manufactured from original parts I have worked with a lot of reputable Sheet Metal and Fabrication SMEs over the years and it gives me a great sense of joy knowing and supplying the best talent. Most candidates I have placed end up going onto permanent employment with the client in the end. I have gained credibility and a reputation in the industry clients could count on. A lot of my referrals was through word of mouth, You engage in one sheet metal company, provide them with the resources and it opens up the flood gates to every other similar sheet metal business. Name drop a few you've assisted and the work becomes easier. Credibility is everything and relationship building is key. People buy from you cos they trust you and you give them the transfer of confidence. Whilst working alongside Production Managers, Directors, Owners the pain point was consistent.
