24.01.2022 Ear tagging calves today

24.01.2022 Our first batch of weaners seem happy in their new paddock after leaving their mothers. (Matthew unsuccessfully trying to hand feed a carrot)

23.01.2022 First load of fire wood for the season

23.01.2022 Our polymaster rainwater tank is installed. Plumbed to the two older tanks, they provide storage for a tanker load of water if we need to buy water in the next dry spell. Meanwhile it is filling fast with rain this winter. #rain #bringiton #polymaster #sandersfodder

20.01.2022 Papa's trailer has been retired for farm work only...and named accordingly in his memory :). Very handy for storing big bales and feeding out behind the tractor.

18.01.2022 Its starting to look a bit greener around here

18.01.2022 As the nutritional value in the pasture has dropped, the molasses roller has become popular again.

17.01.2022 Get your orders in for Firewood.. Seasoned split and cut bluegum will keep you warm this winter

17.01.2022 On the weekend we had nearly 30 mm rain and water in the dams ! This will make a huge difference as we should make it through summer now without buying water - yippee

16.01.2022 Very low rainfall this year means our dams didn't get a good fill...only 5 out of 9 dams have water but drying up quickly

15.01.2022 With growing calves, comes hardship. This little one wasn't being nourished by her mum, so I took over her care. What a week ! Between despair when I'm forcing milk in her mouth and begging her to swallow, then delight when she takes a few sucks on her own. Still a way to go but at least she's alive which for certain wouldn't have been the case if we left her.

14.01.2022 The new bull 'Quinn', is introduced to the herd today. He's only a young bull but settled in really well.

13.01.2022 Look who's enjoying the dams #fathersday #duckslife

13.01.2022 Ready for the long weekend: gave the shearing shed accommodation a dust off ready for guests. Combustion heater inside, bonfire outside, I think they are set for the cold clear nights ahead.

12.01.2022 Not much goodness left in the pasture so time to get the molasses roller out again. Along with feeding out hay this should keep condition on our cattle.

11.01.2022 But mum, I can't see past your big butt !

11.01.2022 We're still cutting loads of firewood and selling off property to clean up spots like this...looks much better and gives the cattle more grazing. We use a saw bench and splitter and our tipping trailer to deliver. Some Bonfire burns too - yum, marshmallows

10.01.2022 Can you smell the rain ?

09.01.2022 Feeding time..love the quietness..just munching

08.01.2022 Spot the new calf. Calving season has started.

08.01.2022 Lost the dog again... #downtherabbithole

08.01.2022 It's that time of the year that we are beginning to feed some hay out. The yearlings are especially looking for it.

07.01.2022 Oh, the springtime struggle...horse hair everywhere

07.01.2022 The horses are being treated to a bran mash today. They love it ! It will flush any dirt they have ingested through their system. Especially important to do this every 2-3 weeks when they are grazing closer to the ground.

03.01.2022 Our newest babies...Willy wagtails under the verandah

03.01.2022 Love the face markings on this little heifer. Natural highlights. Perfection.

01.01.2022 Breakfast is served #farmlife #cattle #blackangus
