24.01.2022 Screen-free holiday fun These holidays I've pulled in the experts (my kids & some of their friends) to road-test some creative activities I've had saved on my Pinterest board...but never quite got around to doing them! This week we're testing Salt Painting. Experts rating: 4 out of 5 on the fun factor scale... Super easy, fun and their artworks turned out really well. Tip: we used paper instead of cardboard and after a while the paper did get soggy but was okay for the job. So when we started designing our pillowcases, I knew we had to somehow include them in our design. 16.01.2022 The Climate4kids national rally may be over, but there are so many inspiring young kids out there making it their mission to educate other kids (and adults) as to how we can collectively work together to save our beautiful planet. Arlian is 12 years old and his mission is to save our ocean & sea-life from plastic pollution. His video moved me so much that I promised myself that I would always walk out the door with keys + phone + purse + now water bottle. 16.01.2022 Tote bag or satchel - what's your fave? Sorry we've been quiet for a while - we've been busily launching our school fundraising program which has 5 new eco-friendly products. We'd love to know which ones you love the most - we'll offer the winning products on our kooky website. This week we're putting our tote bag head-to-head against our satchel. 12.01.2022 KOBY DESIGNS HIS KOOKY TEE WITH LEGO, LAVA & MORE When kids design their kooky clothes, the possibilities of what they can use are endless. Check out this video of Koby using paint, a straw (metal not plastic) and rocks from the garden to create a volcano that looks like its just erupted. He used his lego figures, who were battling it out in the Valley of Villians, under a storm-struck night.... Every kooky creation has a story..what will your kids story be? 08.01.2022 And the winner of our eco warrior competition goes to....drum roll.....Leila, 10, from Camdenville. There were so many moving entries, filled with passion, inspiration and hope to save our beautiful oceans but this story and the accompanying artwork got our winning vote. Here's Leila's story: The reason why it is important to me to protect our oceans is once animals die, they die and you cant bring them back, ever! It is not fair for us to pollute their environment making th...em have to suffer. Healthy oceans absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and reduce climate change impacts. Healthy oceans give us more than half of the worlds oxygen. Healthy oceans, healthy marine life, healthy us and beautiful oceans! Clean up our oceans, once and for all!

04.01.2022 Screen free activity # 2 these holidays This week we're road testing Blow Painting. Looked easy enough and a bit of fun. Kids fun rating: 3 out of 5... Tips: good for younger kids who liked this. Only downside was that you have to mix the paint with the right amount of water so that it creates the long lines like the one on Pinterest.
