23.01.2022 Not only are we experienced in new home designs, home renovations, alteration & additions and townhouse design, Megan also has 10 years experience in retail, mixed use, commercial and high rise residential architecture while working for The Buchan Group in the Melbourne and Dubai offices. Here are some images of the Highpoint Shopping Centre Extension in Maribyrnong that Megan was involved in. An amazing result!

22.01.2022 Lately we have been asked to develop some landscape masterplans for some acreage lots which we have absolutely loved being involved in! While we are not experts on the plants species (something we hope to develop in the near future) but we CAN develop a masterplan to make sure you get the most out of the space on your property. This client has let us share their landscape masterplan with you and we absolutely love it! We offer not only architectural building design services but also masterplanning so get in contact with us for your next project.

20.01.2022 Construction drawings are almost complete on this traditional character home in a heritage overlay area of country Victoria. The steeply sloping site presented some challenges but we are pretty excited to see DM Construction bring this to life.

19.01.2022 We are really excited to share this St Leonards beach front project with you! Currently undergoing town planning review and approval this will really be something to stop and take a look at on your cruise around the peninsula once constructed. The owners of this modern coastal home will have views of either the bay to the front or the salt lagoons behind from nearly every room of the house.

18.01.2022 While part of The Buchan Group team, Megan also worked on heritage projects such as The Rialto Hotel redevelopment. Melbourne has such a rich and beautiful architectural history, it was fascinating to explore the history of the Rialto Hotel building while working on this project. Images of the public foyer, bar and atrium space are shown below.

18.01.2022 When you are doing your own home renovations they always take a lot longer than normal and I guess youre probably wondering how our bathroom is going since I showed you the demo photos back in January?.... Well I am super excited to show you the latest progress shots from the last couple of months! I am in love with the timber vanity which was just installed today thanks to MDR Joinery. Also thanks to Earthtech Electrical, Dodds Plumbing, PR Plastering, Warwick Tiling and of course the hard working Daniel Koolen. Were on the home stretch. Final images coming soon!

15.01.2022 If you havent already been over to check out our website I thought Id start by sharing what weve already got up on show there....starting with this beautiful little alteration and addition in Newport. We transformed this tiny little old house into a spacious, modern, light filled, three bedroom home, while keeping all the traditional character features. Thanks to the client, and to the builder Reborn Projects who did an amazing job on this project!

14.01.2022 Another exciting alteration and addition to a traditional character home in Footscray. This addition rearranges the existing living, dining and kitchen space to provide new indoor/outdoor living connections to the new alfresco dining area. Upstairs works involve enclosing part the existing large balcony and rearranging of existing spaces to create an additional bedroom and bathroom to allow all family members to have upstairs bedrooms with balcony access. An exciting project in the process of finalising construction drawings ready for a construction start date hopefully February. Stay tuned!

12.01.2022 We also have experience working on large international projects such as Palm Mall Deira which was to be the worlds largest shopping centre located on Palm Deira in Dubai, UAE. It was an amazing experience working as part of The Buchan Group team in the Dubai office for a year. This experience also involved the research, comparison and analysis of existing malls, and the design of many smaller scale Dubai residential neighbourhood mall projects. 09.01.2022 Got our automated Phantom Screen blinds installed to our outdoor entertaining kitchen area yesterday and they look amazing! This will make our entertaining area even more flexible all year round providing some wind, weather and sun glare protection. Phil and the guys at 3228 Blinds were awesome to work with. I recommend you giving them a call!

09.01.2022 CONSTRUCTION UPDATE! Things are starting to take place on this little one in West Footscray as we see the steel portal frame for the full height feature windows at the rear and the timber framing going up. More updates as it progresses. BUILDER: REBORN PROJECTS

08.01.2022 One of our recent concepts for an alteration and addition which we are really excited about! Everyone is loving the WOW factor when stepping from a traditional old character home at the front into a spacious, high ceiling, light filled open plan living and kitchen area with indoor/outdoor spaces at the rear. This one in Newport will be extra special!

07.01.2022 We also do facade redesigns! This is a facade redesign off the plan that we did a couple of years back in Ballarat with DM Constructions. The original facade was a boring standard brick home and we were able to transform this into an exciting new contemporary facade without alteration to any of the wall locations. Additional images include the original facade design and one of the as built result. I will upload more of the as built work when available.

07.01.2022 Another exciting project Megan was involved in at The Buchan Group was the Lucient Apartment building on St Kilda Road, Melbourne. The curved, operable glass louvre front facade contains amazing high end finished apartments.

06.01.2022 The clients for this new home in Clunes wanted a modern pavilion style home. With a central living area, a main bedroom wing and a guest bedroom wing the house provides maximum flexibility for zoned living arrangements. With large north facing windows and wide open views to the north this home will be amazing to wake up to every morning. We are currently finalising construction drawings with local builder DM Construction and we hope to share with you the construction progress updates soon.

05.01.2022 The concept model design for a 4 townhouse development in Werribee. With a proposed mix of timber, brick, weather groove and metal cladding, double height spaces providing plenty of natural light and a mix of 3 or 4 bedrooms, these townhouses are generously spacious and modern. Cant wait to get started on the planning application for this one!

05.01.2022 I love seeing the transformation of these alteration and additions which retain the existing beautiful character of the early 20th century architecture but surprise and delight you with the modern extension to the rear or first floor addition. An alteration and addition provides a revitalised, spacious, modern home that allows people to stay living in the place they love throughout all of lifes stages. These clients created a contemporary first floor addition overlooking the existing covered alfresco, to contain their own large master bedroom retreat with private balcony, study, ensuite and double WIR, while downstairs creating a second living area/4th bedroom in addition to a larger open plan main living, dining and kitchen with walk in pantry, breakfast bar and servery to the alfresco entertaining space.

Here are some snapshots of a contemporary family home in a beautiful rural setting that we are currently completing construction drawings on. 02.01.2022 Last year we were busy working on an alteration & addition concept to transform a tired, single storey, brick veneer, Brighton East home into a generous, two storey, three bedroom home with open plan living, dining and kitchen, formal dining and study. Master with large WIR and ensuite and second upstairs living area. A new 10m pool with pool house and guest room facilities. The client then decided to explore the idea of constructing two double storey townhouses with basem...ent car parking and theatre room on the site. We were happy to develop these townhouse concepts which also provide 3 bedrooms, master with WIR and ensuite and balconies. Each townhouse was also provided with its own private pool. The client is currently deciding which way to develop their site and we cant wait to keep you updated. Always remember the opportunities are endless and we would love to explore them with you! 01.01.2022 Here's a little something to take a look at over our lockdown week. Our concept design for 3 new townhouses! The corner site allows each townhouse to have it's own separate vehicle crossover, enhancing the unique identity and chararcter of the site in this sought after area. Each townhouse has a wonderful north facing aspect and provides 3 bedrooms, master with ensuite; downstairs open plan living, kitchen and dining and a small breakout space upstairs. 01.01.2022 Before we take a break for the Christmas holidays we thought we would share these exciting concepts for an alteration & addition in Geelong that only recently completed. We prepared a single and a double storey option for which we will now get some preliminary pricing on before deciding which way to proceed. I am really excited about this one! 17.12.2021 How about a lovely, modern, country retreat home? We have been working on this wonderful concept for a new home in Clunes. This home responds to the natural slope of the land allowing the garage to sit discretely beneath the main floor level without major excavation work. A laundry and second living area or fourth bedroom are also located at lower ground level with access to a private deck and the rear garden. The main floor level has access to a private front courtyard, three bedrooms, master with ensuite and WIR, and an open living, kitchen and dining space which also opens up to a first floor deck overlooking the natural winter creek that runs through the rear of the property. Who could ask for more!

21.11.2021 We know you've all been wondering what we've been up to lately and we can assure you lots has been going on! We just haven't gotten around to sharing everything with you just yet, but don't worry, we will! We have a few concepts underway and some projects about to start construction, but for now we are excited to share with you this concept model for a little rural getaway located in Clunes. This residential home is nestled amongst a bushland setting and uses a combination of materials including custom orb Colorbond cladding, Cemintel concrete look panels and bushfire resistant timber cladding and/or timber look lining to meet the construction requirements of a BAL-29 siting. The design takes advantage of the north facing aspect and is designed around zoned living areas to minimise running costs.
