25.01.2022 Making and creating, cutting and gluing are all great fun and part of every childs creative journey - it is important to encourage children to have the confidence to use the tools we have available rather than teaching them to be afraid of the tools. Scissor is an important tool to master, but should be used with caution. So on that account, here at Koolkidz Cranbourne West, children were provided with scissors and scissors skills worksheets with unlike dotted lines, to teach them how to use the scissors from early on, so later, they will be able to cut and create safely without being fearful of accidents due to misuse.

25.01.2022 Here at KoolKidz, we like to start young in nurturing curious minds! Hiding loose parts in a muffin tray with Post-its is a perfect activity not only for developing object permanence but allowing the little ones to explore what is under it. This means your baby understands that you or an object is still there even if they cant see them. This helps in settling them down in the environment when parents drop their child off in the morning. Our Ladybugs babies loved the cause and effect when pulling the post it to reveal whats beneath. It may not seem much but this is a fantastic way to keep your little ones busy especially in this lockdown!

24.01.2022 Then And Now As young children participate in everyday life experiences, they develop interests and construct their own identities and understandings of the world around them. During childhood, childrens identities, learnings, understandings, capabilities, skills as well as their relationships change. The educators in Beetlebugs room printed some childrens baby photos from the days when they used to attend the Ladybugs (Babies room). It was an amazing and proud moment when some children recognised themselves as well as their peers while looking at those photos.

24.01.2022 Here at Kool Kidz Cranbourne West we consistently want to encourage the children to learn about belonging and partnerships at the centre. Today we have decided to set up a small activity for the children to feel a connection to their peers, while also having fun. We have set up pictures of some children on a stick and placed them in various play areas in our room. The children went on a little scavenger hunt looking for their peers around the room with a buddy, to see who they could find. Seeing different photos around the room showed the children that they all belong together and can show empathy and respect for one another in the hard times.

23.01.2022 Yoga enhances children’s flexibility, strength, coordination, and body awareness. In addition, their concentration and sense of calmness and relaxation improves. Doing yoga, children exercise, play, connect more deeply with the inner self, and develop an intimate relationship with the natural world that surrounds them. Yoga brings that marvelous inner light that all children have to the surface. Here at Kool Kidz Cranbourne West, educators believes that yoga is something chi...ldren can practice anywhere and that the breathing, the concentration, the poses, and the way children learn to act or react to situations, will lead to constant self-discovery and inquisitiveness. So the educators provided children the opportunity to practice their yoga asanas, using pictures and educators role modelling the postures for the children to assist them follow the same. See more

23.01.2022 During this pandemic phase of our lives, lately weve noticed few children struggling at drop off times. Helping children develop emotional understanding requires repeated and intentional practice. Here, at Kool Kidz Cranbourne West, to support childrens self-regulation and problem-solving skills, we planned a game named Call out our emotions where children were requested to enact or mime different emotions such as happy, sad, excited, frustrated, crying etc. It was pleasant seeing them involved and engaged in the whole experience till the end. Yet the game was related to emotions, but as children mimed all the emotions, the whole experience turned into fun and kinder room was full of giggles around. Children also enjoyed cheering for each other with applauds.

23.01.2022 At kool kidz we feel strongly that the body matters.Physical development and physical fitness deserve equal respect and attention! As such, Weve chosen to focus on balancing and hand and eye coordination.Play is crucial to the development of childrens gross and fine motor skills. The most important thing we can do is to give children the time, space, and opportunity to move. For this particular challenge,They had to work together carrying the ball with the sticks to the end of the course. If the ball dropped they had to go back to the start. They were working on teamwork, communication, balance, coordination and gross motor skills. This was a fun way for them to practice accomplishing a goal together

22.01.2022 Rain, hail or shine educators here at Kool Kidz Cranbourne West are always providing stimulating, fun and educational activities for children to explore. Sometimes an idea comes from absolutely nothing at all and can be the most creative. In the nursery we took art to a whole new place mixing creativity and recycled materials to fabricate an innovative abstract piece of artwork. Using a cardboard box, balls, paint and a little arm muscle the children had an immense amount of fun creating art in their own form.

22.01.2022 As the weather warms up, this is the perfect opportunity to spend a little more time in the sun. Dont let the lockdown blues stop you and your bubbas from having fun! How about a rescue adventure to free all objects frozen in the ice?Ice makes an amazing sensory play material. Its free , always available and pretty cool too! Here at Koolkidz, our ladybugs children have been busy using their little hands to knock down the ice using the hammer to rescue the sea creatures! Some of our younger ones are just more interested in simply exploring the ice with their bare hands. The simple act of melting ice is a great science experiment for the young ones. This type of play opens up so many avenues for exploring, discovering and learning about the world!

22.01.2022 Outside play, plays an important role in childrens development. Children are working on their gross motor muscles and getting much needed exercise within themselves. Here at Kool Kidz Cranbourne West, educators have created a barefoot sensory path which builds on children sensory as they walk along and express to their educators how it feels on their feet and between their little toes. When they reached the end their little faces lit up as they stepped into the water to wash away all the sand, dirt and grass.

22.01.2022 A father doesnt tell you that he loves you. He shows you. KK Cranbourne wishes everyone out there a very Happy Fathers Day

21.01.2022 Learning to count, identify numbers, compare and manipulate quantities are key early numeracy skills. These are powerful predictors of school-age mathematical learning and performance. Children prepare for counting skills by learning to recognise and identify numbers. The foundation to maths is children being able to recognise numbers one through to ten. Children can learn names, symbols and quantities that each number represents through hands on experiences and exploration. Here at Kool Kidz Cranbourne West, the kinder children engaged in a numeracy experience where they used number cards to help them explore what the number look like when written. Children are then to match quantities using different natural resources to the number cards, putting them in sequence.

21.01.2022 Today the children of Kool Kidz Cranbourne West experienced a memorable ride with a "tut tut" on their favourite Thomas the Tank. These incursions provide children with authentic and meaningful opportunities to play creatively, either independently or with friends, but most importantly teaches them the value of friendship and teamwork. Providing fun experiences customised with learning has always been a priority for our children.

As constructive play imbues kids with the importance of cooperating with other members in their team. It helps them feel like one community working towards the same goals. It also paves the way to build their social skills a trait that would be valuable as an adults.

20.01.2022 Astronomy can be something fun and exciting to study or learn with kinders. From stargazing to learning the phases of the moon, there are lots of things to learn and discover about our solar system. Since its a Science week, Thus here at Kool Kidz Cranbourne West, to teach children about different galaxies, such as the Milky Way (the home of our solar system) and as part of our lesson, We introduced kinders a Galaxy painting and encouraged children to create their very own galaxies using paint. 20.01.2022 Children learn as they play. Most importantly, in play children learn how to learn. -O. Fred Donaldson Helping children get ready for school also means giving them the tools they need to make decisions and problem solve. It also means giving them the much needed room to make mistakes and then give them the opportunity to fix those same mistakes. In our journey of preparing children for ‘big school’ we introduced them to Jenga! Through this game, they showed immense concentration and patience. They also showcased their problem solving skills as they tried to keep the tower in tact.

20.01.2022 Children have the most wondrous and vast imaginations that creativity just flows through them. As the educators, it is up to us to provide the resources in order for children to lead the way into developing different concepts of learning. The educators here in the honeybees room have taken mess free learning to a whole new level while still allowing the children to be creative and learn new skills and abilities along the way, both on their own or with their peers. These activities allow children to tap into enhancing their fine motors skills and colour recognition all while promoting fun sensory activity.

20.01.2022 In our work to continue encouraging sustainability and sustainable practices within the centre, we introduced a worm farm. The benefits of a worm farm include reducing waste as it processes food scraps and other organic materials, through the worms eating them. Worm farms are also great for adding nutrients into the soil and protecting its water quality. The process of setting up the worm farm followed only a few steps, which started off with assembling the farm, adding the ...mulch to the water in a tub and waiting for it to break apart and absorb the water. We then placed a cardboard on the bottom on the first tray. After that we added the mulch which was ready after having waited for fifteen minutes, we added the worms, which were all very slimy. The children obviously loved making that assessment. We then added some torn pieces of paper after spreading the worms in their farm, then we added a blanket to make sure that they are nice and warm during this cold weather. After that, we put the lid on top and moved the worm farm to a cool and dry area. See more

19.01.2022 The importance of challenge is something that is often referred to education , with teacher encouraged to adequately stretch young minds to help them to meet their full potential. But challenge shouldn’t be limited to a text book, as the benefits of giving children a challenge outside of the classroom builds confidence, self -esteem and motivation. Therefore here at Koolkidz Cranbourne West our kinder’s introduced to and given a challenge BUILD A MAZE. A maze might just look like a fun way to pass time, but they’re actually a valuable learning tool for children, as maze is a great way to boost their problem solving skills, patience, persistence and teaches them about the rewards of work. Concentrating on a maze also helps memory too.

18.01.2022 Young Children need opportunities to practice feeling wonder to develop curious minds. Educators at Kool Kidz Cranbourne West observe the curiosity of children through structured and non-structured play which allows them to enable children to explore their curiosity and enhance it by providing new learning experiences and enjoying it while doing so. In the nursery room the children love exploring their sensory skills throughout the room through natural and processed materials so educators encouraged this exercise through ball play in the ball pit and kinetic sand play in the tuff tray.

18.01.2022 Here at Kool Kidz Cranbourne West, we believe it is important for children to learn about what makes each of us unique. Having the ability to love ourselves is something that we never stop learning in our lifetime, so we wanted to encourage self love as early as possible. We have set up a small mirror display in the room so that the children are able to walk up and see their faces whenever they want too. Our children walked up instantly pulling funny faces, sticking their tongue out, laughing at their own faces, posing together with their peers and looking closely at their nose, mouth and eyes, and other small features. Having this area in the room not only helps our children admire themselves, but it also allows them to observe their surroundings, and increase language development as they watch each others mouths moving while talking.

17.01.2022 What a fantastic way to do oral motor exercise using inexpensive resources which are readily available in our household. Oral-motor skills refer to the appropriate functioning and use of the facial muscles (lips, jaw, tongue, cheeks, and palate) for speaking and eating. Achieving oral-motor skills is an important part of every childs communication. Our children couldnt stop blowing balloons and definitely did their best to fit it in the plastic cup to be able to pick them up. We miss our families and hoping that you all could try this fun game with your little ones at home.

14.01.2022 Its easy to forget that we live on one tiny planet in a huge universe, and even when we begin to talk about it with children its a very difficult topic to comprehend. But learning about the solar system at a young age can really inspire and ignite imaginations and encourage a long-term fascination about astronomy in children, that may never leave them. Therefore here at Kool Kidz Cranbourne West, weve set up a wall named Solar system and planned a couple of activities for our kinder children such as, ( using dough) create and colour their own planets and volcano to enhance childrens interest towards our universe. Bean bag games and activities are a fun way to develop gross motor skills. Here at Kool kidz Cranbourne West we believe in prom...oting active play, today the educators setup a bean bag obstacle course for children. As children find beanbags easier to handle than a ball, and because beanbags can’t roll away. Educators showed the children how to hold beanbags in both hands and walk in a line on the balancing planks. There were some trial and errors as the children tried the balancing obstacle. And some managed to master the balancing act. Children developed muscular strength and cardiovascular endurance as well as building and encouraging their self-esteem and confidence. See more

In the Ladybugs room, the children have been kept busy working with their little hands. The children have s...pent time sticking the different coloured balls onto the wall and pulling them off. Some of the balls were placed a little higher and further to encourage some of the older Ladybug children to stand and reach. The sticky wall was left up all day to allow the children to revisit the activity which they did over and over again. This activity helps to promote gross and fine motor skills and hand-eye co-ordination for the little Ladybugs. Definitely a super -easy activity for parents to do at home and keep your little ones engaged all day! See more

The children used their sheer concentration to connect the correct keys to the locks, if the key did not fit they used their problem solving skills to find another key and try again.
