22.01.2022 This morning the children were involved in covering one of our Kool Kidz curriculum learning blocks The World and Environment. The children discovered a variety of different natural shells and other ocean inspired materials. The children noticed the different patterns, textures and colours of the sea shells. This sparked conversations with the children about what used to be living in the shells. The children were curious and were building their knowledge about living creatures in our waters.

21.01.2022 Our passionate Kinder team, children and families have embarked on collecting soft plastic rubbish - yes, the scrunchable ones, to recycle. Recycling soft plastic Rubbish is called REDCYCLE. This initiative is initiated by the Red Group - a Melbourne-based consulting and recycling organisation who has developed and implemented the REDcycle Program; a recovery initiative for post-consumer soft plastic. They turn rubbish into benches and fences to donate to schools and parks... We all accumulate soft plastic rubbish which do not decompose in landfills. Instead of putting them in the general bin, let us collect and put them in special bins located at all COLES and WOOLWORTHS supermarkets. Emmanuel and his family have already dropped their collection along with the 3 bags we have collected across the centre. You can be next! How to RedCycle: Simply COLLECT and DROP and Red Group will RECYCLE for us. Don't forget to click photos of your family whilst dropping your collection in the RedCycle bin to help spread the word. Our simple acts can have a global impact! The Kinder children and their families can definitely do this. Do the scrunch test and to do what's best!

20.01.2022 Hello sunshine! Today we took advantage of the in-built water play system in the bigger play yard. The children splashed in the water and cooled off at the same time. WE WERE DEFINITELY KOOL KIDZ TODAY!

20.01.2022 Dragonflies adventure to the PARK! Today the Dragonfly children went on an adventure to our nearest park Pinnacle park. Before leaving, we had brief discussion about the road signs and signals as well as how to cross the road safely. We assisted the children to put on our safety vests and off we went, on our adventure to the park. Exploring the community with the children has so many benefits such as waving hello to our builders in the big trucks, getting to see the natura...l world, one the most important things the children learnt was road safety as our educators demonstrated, practiced and explained, why we look both ways before crossing. We had such a great time exploring the different playground facilities. The swings didn't stop swinging and the slide was a popular place to be, not to mention that we had great weather for the morning:)) Such a great day cant wait to do it again soon !

19.01.2022 We started writing letters to our friends who are not attending Kinder at the moment due to lock down restrictions. The children tried their best to recall the friends who are staying at home, or those who have left the care just to find out if they are doing well and if they are OK?. They suggested the words they would write on their cards. Then, they started folding the envelopes to shape and sealed it with their love and concern. Joe our Kindergarten teacher has been work...ing very hard ensuring the Kinder children at home are still continuing to learn whilst not be able to attend Kinder. Please see below link of the website Joe has created for families to do home learning with their children and he has also set up an APP. https://joebandejasmelbour.wixsite.com/website - Website download http://wix.to/TsD3DA4?ref=contacts - APP download

19.01.2022 Today is R U OK Day. Now more than ever, we should take the opportunity to re-connect with our families, relatives and friends through platforms that have face-to-face call feature such as Messenger, Skype, Facetime and Zoom among others. It is almost certain that our children will have a million things to share to their grandpas and grandmas, nonno and nonna, aunts and uncles, friends, and so on. According to https://www.ruok.org.au/, "A CONVERSATION CAN CHANGE A LIFE." Cl...ick the link above for more information on how to reach out and help those who are in a sensitive emotional and psychological state. How to be a good friend and ask R U OK? https://youtu.be/KEKhTSagJ3I Also, attached is a template of an envelope if the children wish to drop mails to their friends in the neighbourhood, or wish for them to be picked up and send to Kool Kidz Merrifield. Message reception (Attention: Joe) if you prefer the second option.

17.01.2022 Have you ever thought about how you can tell what our friends are feeling? Sometimes, friends might tell you that they are feeling happy or sad but, even if they do not tell you, I am sure we would be able to make a good guess about what kind of mood they are in. We might get a clue from the tone of voice that they use. The other main clue you might use to tell what a friend is feeling would be to look at his or her facial expression this is what we covered today in the Caterpillars classroom.
