22.01.2022 Massimo Melle: Maestro of Tasmanian Cuisine, huge garlic fan and modest to boot... This headliner described his KGF 2020 creation as a 'simple dish of ricotta cavatelli' but according to the crowd there was nothing simple about those flavours AT ALL . Dishes like this and the education that comes with it bring so much to our our centre stage and the audience it attracts. We'll be following Massimo's journey and can't wait to see what he's up to next .... #Repost @chefmassimomele --- "Very happy with the turn out today, thanks to Koonya Garlic Festival for inviting me along. This is a real grass roots festival and a pleasure to be part of it. I cooked A simple dish of ricotta cavatelli. The ingredients were from Grown for Taste, Bream Creek Community Market Garden, Vermey's Quality Meats . The best part of my job is having the freedom to collaborate with quality growers and producers. It’s a team effort, not always easy but well worth it... It was nice to have my first head chef Adam Aitken in the crowd, a real reminder of where I’ve come from and the people who mentored me along the way<...>" . #welovegarlic #koonyagarlicfestival #countrystyle #countryfestival #localproduce #countdown #garlicfestival #welovegarlic #koonya #tasmanpeninsula #tasmania #discovertasmania #discoverhobart #thehobartmag #seektasmania #hobartandbeyond @ Koonya Garlic Festival See more

21.01.2022 The Koonya Garlic Festival is all about community so a new marquee for us is a win for us all . Amidst the 2020-ness of 2020, the Koonya Garlic Festival Inc. was awarded a Tasmania Community Fund grant for the purchase of a new (10 x 24 m) marquee. This is huge and huge news for us, providing a real game changer for the KGF . This epic marquee will principally provide shelter for our little festival with a big heart, as well as being available for use by the vibrant array... of community groups here on the Tasman Peninsula . These things don't just happen and the KGF Inc. Team are enormously grateful to the Tasmanian Community Fund for their significant generosity. Huge shout out to the Tasman Council, Rotary Club of Tasman Peninsula and Lions Club of Tasman for their support of our application...you're the best! . We're feeling pretty wonderful to have this kind of investment in our garlicky hopes and dreams right now . Stay tuned for updates on how we're striving to adapt and shape events for 2021 See more

04.01.2022 What a day . The KGF 2020 is complete and our promise to make it our biggest and best yet came true . To our amazing sponsors, we are so grateful.... We're in love with bringing all the garlic, talent, wisdom, garlic, community, passion, garlic, curiosity and garlicky creators together for this annual celebration and you make this possible. . To the volunteers (you know who you are) and incredibly good-looking committee members (ahem), we love you . There aren't sufficient words to thank all the attendees and local farm animals who joined us to embrace garlic (your feedback's been overwhelming), nor to thank the talent that took time out of their celebrity schedules to be so fab on our little peninsula . Stay tuned for a look back at all the excitement over coming days... . KGF 2021 here we come!! . #Repost @janicesutton_feast --- "Well here we are!! 04.01.2022 KGF 2020 MASTERCLASSES ALL FREE AS PART OF YOUR TICKET PRICE . The Masters are out in force this year and promising an extraordinary journey in garlic . (*read this from start to finish and don't get hungry, WE DARE YOU)...... . Celebrated Chef Massimo Mele will be bringing some bold Italian-inspired flavours to the table, creating a hand rolled macaroni sausage with turnip tops, garlic and chilli and also a smashed local zucchini and fried garlic chips . Chef and fermenting guru Adam James from Rough Rice will be demonstrating how to ‘lacto ferment fresh garlic with turmeric, black pepper and lime leaf’. He’ll then use this mix (he’ll bring one he fermented 2 years ago with him) to make a yellow curry of fermented garlic, turmeric + fig leaf with (Tasman peninsula) abalone, seasonal vegetables and rice . Also cooking up a storm in the main marquee are festival faves Paul Foreman and John X (the Chef and the Showman). Paul will be creating (with John’s help!) a black garlic dessert that promises to be a showstopper: Nitro black garlic and kaffir lime ice cream with liquorice root sherbet . Finally, second generation Distiller (think Lark Distillery) with over 18 years’ experience in distilling, Kristy Booth Lark will be experimenting with botanicals and black garlic, sharing her secrets in striking the perfect flavor balance (no mean feat) . #starving #themasters #massimomele #adamjames #roughrice #thechefandtheshowman #chefpaulforman #johnxactor #kristylarkbooth #killaradistillery #masteringthemasterclass #notlongtogo #celebritygarlic #garlicgarlicgarlic #allthegarlicplease #welovegarlic #koonyagarlicfestival #countrystyle #countryfestival #localproduce #countdown #garlicfestival #welovegarlic #koonya #tasmanpeninsula #tasmania #discovertasmania #discoverhobart #thehobartmag #seektasmania #hobartandbeyond See more
