25.01.2022 'The gospel comes with a house key. If not you are only living half the gospel.' Encouraging and challenging talk on hospitality (thanks Stew). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Z-H57RayZ0&feature=youtu.be

24.01.2022 'Proverbs 29:25 says that the fear of man will prove to be a snare. It’s a trap. But it’s a trap we all fall into, one way or another. Welch writes, Fear of man is such a part of our human fabric that we should check for a pulse if someone denies it.'

23.01.2022 'Yes, let us drink our fill from Christ and Christ alone, for grace has no other fountain.'

23.01.2022 For your prayers...

23.01.2022 Sometimes people ask, what do we mean when we say 'he descended into hell' in the Apostle's Creed?

22.01.2022 Following on from Sunday... 'Integration of all members fosters unity in the church, but it also takes hard work.'

22.01.2022 Sometimes people ask, 'what does the Apostle's Creed even mean?' This should be a good series of articles to follow... https://au.thegospelcoalition.org//the-apostles-creed-1-i/

21.01.2022 'Relationships play a key role in emotional regulation. As adults, we turn to friends, family, the church and, above all, to God, in our distress. For the young children in our lives, a loving adult plays a critical role in being a ‘safe haven’someone to comfort them and co-regulate their emotions. What a great privilege and responsibility!'

20.01.2022 Heavenly Father, Please be at work in our Diocese opening many hearts to the gospel and using us to shine as a light for you, that many would be drawn to Jesus in repentance and faith, and become established among His people. Please compel us with Christ’s love, strengthen us in our prayer and witness, give us courage to speak, and faithfulness to persevere. In Jesus’ Name, Amen

19.01.2022 Our Heavenly Father, Even in the midst of suffering, you are powerfully and mercifully contending for this world. Please help the Christians whose suffering is further compounded by the pandemic. Please protect and provide for them, and sustain their faith. Help us to not forget our persecuted brothers and sisters in the majority world. But to remember since we are also in the body. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

18.01.2022 Let's keep praying for Myanmar.

14.01.2022 What a wonderful vision for church this gives us to pray for!

14.01.2022 Parenting future teens today. 'But there are some things I can do now to lay the foundations for those ‘danger years’ later on. Here are four things that I have chosen to do over and above continuing attempts at devotions and Bible discussions.' https://growingfaith.com.au/pa/parenting-future-teens-today

14.01.2022 'God is merciful and just. Loving and holy. Let’s be sobered by Edwards’ conviction after all these years. It’s a taste of justice delayed, but justice delivered (in part at least), and it’s a pointer to a greater day of justice to come when the streets of every city will be safe for women to walk in forever.'

14.01.2022 Hope to see you tomorrow!

13.01.2022 Please keep the Synod in your prayers tomorrow that we make Christ honouring decisions and are wise stewards of his grace to us in Jesus (your rep's are Kim J, Kim W, and Tory)

13.01.2022 Hi Church family, we love our friends and family - who aren't following Jesus - so much that we want to share him with them but often struggle to know how or where to start. Here is an article packed with great practical wisdom: https://www.9marks.org/article/evangelize-the-lost/

13.01.2022 In this strange season of COVID, great questions to be asking at the end of this article. 'If we want to follow Jesus, we must grab the plow. Even in pandemics.'

12.01.2022 You might have heard the news that because of COVID, NextGen 2021 in Katoomba has been cancelled. So much sadness! If you're a children's or youth ministry leader in the Armidale Dicoese, head over to armidaledioceseyouth.com/nextgen-2021 ASAP and let us know if you'd be keen to be involved!

10.01.2022 Thanks to the blokes for coming to our men's gathering this morning. If you missed the talk by Al Stewart or want to see it again: https://youtu.be/NI4dy_3VC-w

10.01.2022 'let us not squander the opportunity to develop our ability to engage our ears in listening, our minds in understanding, our emotions in feeling and our bodies in moving, all as we either sing or hum our hearts out to the glory of God and for the good of our brothers and sisters in Christeven if, for now, they can only see us and not hear us. Remember: this present season is not permanent. So let’s prepare ourselves for the season that is to come!'

09.01.2022 The Link is not available in print at the moment but here is the online format. It's encouraging to hear what's happening around the place, including here in Kooti Moonbi! https://issuu.com/sydneyanglicans/docs/link20

09.01.2022 Only the gospel of Jesus can satisfy...

09.01.2022 It's easy for us to get lost in all the good causes happening in our world today, but there is one that matters more than all...

08.01.2022 This is a really encouraging story, 'I had done everything in Hollywood, met everyone, traveled everywhere. Yet I was overwhelmed with emptiness at this party. It was one of the most intense is that all there is? moments in my life.'

08.01.2022 Friday, April 23: Heavenly Father, we ask for your help and strength for our Christian brothers and sisters in the Church of the Province of Myanmar. 07.01.2022 'Despite the huge transformations across the globe, the advances of technology, the levels of communication, the travel, the education and the sense of progressive among the most advanced nations, so much of our lives revolves around the same matters: Surviving hardship, finding enjoyment, providing for the necessities of life, finding meaning in loving relationships.'

07.01.2022 'When we walk along a clear road feeling fine, and someone takes our arm to help us, likely we would impatiently shake him off; but when we are caught in rough country in the dark, with a storm brewing and our strength spent, and someone takes our arm to help us, we would thankfully lean on him.' JI Packer

06.01.2022 Let's not forget Myanmar in our prayers. From friends working on the border... This Saturday 27 March is Myanmar Armed Forces Day when the military celebrates with a grand parade. Some are calling for mass demonstrations to reclaim the day as Resistance or Revolution Day (originally commemorated to celebrate the struggle against the Japanese Army). The possible clash could be quite explosive. Religious leaders (Christians, Buddhists and Muslims) in Myanmar are instead calling for a Day of Mourning with prayer and fasting. Please join in prayer for the Lord's mercy on the people of Myanmar. Pray that through this crisis, God will bring people to know him.

06.01.2022 This is Anti-Poverty Week in Australia...

06.01.2022 Priceless wisdom on listening (even though an old post!)...

06.01.2022 The Appellate Tribunal is like the 'court' in deciding disputes in the Anglican Church. This decision is sad but the article reminds us it's far from the fuller story.

05.01.2022 This week our Growth Groups start Six Steps To Loving Your Church (check the weekly email for more details!). Most of us at some point struggle with loving and enjoying church (yes, even ministers!), 2020 has made that only harder. I came across this article on the importance of church - even if you don't need it at the moment it might be worth tucking away. https://au.thegospelcoalition.org//ten-reasons-why-you-ne/

04.01.2022 Recently, I listened to a podcast from Centre for Public Christianity about people's belief in a soul (that was where I heard about the Pixar animation Soul that I mentioned this morning). Here is more from Centre for Public Christianity on the topic.

04.01.2022 Looking forward to the new Midweek Gathering starting next Wednesday 25 Nov for the people of Kootingal and Moonbi!

03.01.2022 One of the most encouraging moments I had at GAFCON in Jerusalem was Archbishop Ben Kwashi. While living in constant persecution in northern Nigeria and fostering 20 (or more?) kids he and his wife Mamma Gloria are absolutely on fire for proclaiming Jesus! And he is now the General Secretary of GAFCON (Peter Jensen's former role). Please join me in praying for successful cancer treatment for Archbishop Ben.

03.01.2022 Save the date! #FUEL2021 is happening on the 17th of July. This year it will be a one-day conference in Armidale. We’ve got two great speakers. We’ll spend ti...me in God’s word. We’ll enjoy fellowship with each other. If you’re serving in Youth or Children’s ministry, join us for a day of Equipping, Encouragement & Fellowship.

03.01.2022 'Church should be your excuse for missing everything else. Draw a line in the sand today to determine when you will return to regular attendance with your church family.' Helpful reminder not just about church in God's plan but also the importance of making a plan for when you will return to church. There is a lot at stake in that plan.

01.01.2022 'We were made for more than modernity can deliver. Human life needs a bigger canvas than the one we’ve been given. To evangelise the West, we need better stories. Including ghost stories.' This article is an oldy, but I was reminded of it reading Luke 8:2239 for this Sunday.
