25.01.2022 It's Week Five SAFETY WEEK... During week five of each term we practice our fire drills, lock down procedures, and snake drills. These drills take place each day of the week to ensure that each child has the opportunity to learn and practice the procedures and be prepared if an emergency eventuates whilst at preschool. In addition, educators focus on safety aspects and education throughout the day utilising group times and play experiences to continue to build on the child...ren’s knowledge and awareness of danger and safety. Discussions on what to do in an emergency, who to contact, stranger danger, and road safety etc take place throughout these teachable moments. During our safety week we will also be touching on child protection issues. Sadly, statistics indicate that approximately 1 in 3 children may experience sexual abuse and the most vulnerable age for children to be exposed to sexual assault appears to be between the ages of 3 and 8 years of age. Alarmingly, most of the abuse is perpetrated by a relative, friend, neighbour or acquaintance. At Kootingal & District Preschool we aim to empower and equip children in a sensitive and age appropriate way about their right to privacy and how to protect their own bodies against any inappropriate behaviour or abuse. Throughout these child protection sessions and on a daily basis at preschool, correct terminology of body parts will always be used. If you have any questions, queries or concerns relating to our safety week experiences, please don’t hesitate to speak with Bec.

25.01.2022 Kootingal & District Preschool just wanted to say a big thank you to Santa (Bec’s dad) for visiting us every single day last week! Our preschool children have faced many different challenges this year and have missed out on many various events and experiences due to COVID-19. So, we wanted to make the end of the year special for them. It was wonderful to see so many excited and delighted faces. Thank you, Santa.

24.01.2022 Water play fun! ~Their minds were not built to sit and be taught. They were built to explore, play and learn~ Please Note: Rainwater in use from our water tanks.

21.01.2022 We are loving all of the butterflies who are visiting our garden at present.

19.01.2022 Did you know?... At our service, we believe that play that offers an element of risk is essential for a child’s on-going development and learning. Incorporating challenging and risky play experiences to both our indoor and outdoor programs is something that the educators within our service strive to provide, as we are strongly aware of the benefits engaging in this style of play offers. In line with the Early Years Learning Framework for Australia, we recognise children as capable and resourceful individuals and believe it is our duty to provide them with environments that offer opportunities to assess and explore risks.

16.01.2022 Monday fun at Kooty Preschool.

13.01.2022 Just wanted to say a massive thank you to all of these beautiful and extraordinary women! (Including a couple that are missing!). The dedication, passion, and joy that they each bring to the preschool each and every day is just astounding. They really give their heart and soul to our special little service and I honestly feel so privileged to work beside such talented and enthusiastic team members.

11.01.2022 We have some more exciting projects taking place at Kootingal & District Preschool throughout the school holidays! Project #1 - Extending our dining room mural. Artist Julie Collins is back and busily painting a forest in our dining room.

11.01.2022 We would like to say a massive THANK YOU to our local Men's Group for providing a generous donation of $200 to our preschool. We will be utilising this kind gift to purchase some tools and wheelbarrows for our building and construction area outside. Thanks Ken (President) and Ross (Secretary) for supporting our not for profit community based preschool.

10.01.2022 Did you know?... Consistent and familiar Educators are essential to our Preschool and this is why we have higher Educator to child ratios than required. We believe this practice builds strong relationships with children and their families and it limits staff turnover. Many of our educators have been with us for six years, and some even longer than ten years.

08.01.2022 What a year 2020 has been!! Thank you to all of our beautiful families for joining our learning adventures this year. We have absolutely loved having you as part of our little preschool community. 2020 has been a challenging and difficult year for many of you, but we're so thankful that we have had the opportunity of joining alongside this journey with you this year. May each of you have a special and blessed Christmas filled with hope, peace and joy. May you have time to relax and enjoy your family time together. Stay safe and we look forward to catching up with you all in 2021.

08.01.2022 Kootingal and District Preschool will commence for our first day of 2021 on Wednesday 27th January. We look forward to welcoming back all of our returning families, as well as welcoming all of our new families.

06.01.2022 Welcome to Term Two!

04.01.2022 Did you know?... Communication with families, community services and other professionals is paramount and allows us to portray the valuable role we play in the care and education of children. We regularly communicate with our families and community through daybooks, child summaries, Facebook, Instagram, newsletters and verbal communication during arrival and departure times. These forms of communication help to establish close connections with our families and develop strong partnerships.

04.01.2022 Autumn has arrived at Kootingal & District Preschool and we are enjoying the display of different colours. "Every leaf speaks bliss to me, fluttering from the autumn tree." ~Emily Brontë~

03.01.2022 Today was our first music lesson with Emily from Tamworth Conservatorium of Music. "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." ~Plato~

02.01.2022 Did you know?.... Kootingal and District Preschool actively accesses support services to help children with their development such as early intervention, speech pathology, behavioural therapy and occupational therapy. We are also strong advocates for school readiness and have a thorough parent education system that we conduct each year to fully inform families of the advantages of possibly holding their children back from school. Furthermore, we aim to expose children to different types of learning experiences therefore we currently implement a Japanese language program in the Butterfly Room.

01.01.2022 Many thanks to our local Kootingal Post Office for their generous donation!! We greatly appreciate it, especially as we head towards the cooler months. Thank you!
