25.01.2022 What is the difference between plague and tartar? At your routine check-ups and cleans, you may hear your dentist say the words plague and ‘tartar, but what is the difference? Plague is a soft, sticky layer of bacteria build-up (sometimes dentists call this bio-film) on the surface of your teeth. This can appear and grow shortly after you eat or drink but can be removed effectively with brushing. ... On the other hand, tartar (your dentist may also call it calculus) refers to the hardened plaque deposit that has been left on the tooth surface for a long time, eventually becoming mineralized. Tartar can’t be removed with regular brushing, a visit to the dentist for a professional clean is required. If you are worried about your teeth or you know that you are due for your routine check-up and clean, call us on (03) 5997 1280 to book your appointment or book online on our website. https://www.kooweerup-dental.com.au/

24.01.2022 Ending the week off with another amazing makeover done by Dr William Chai! Are you missing a tooth but wanting to stay away from dentures? Implants might be the answer for you! Our highly skilled dental team has performed dental implant surgery to replace a front incisor tooth for this patient, giving him a more natural and confident smile.... Dental implants are tiny metal posts, usually made out of titanium, that are surgically placed into the jawbone. An artificial tooth is then screwed to the top of this post to fill the areas in the mouth where teeth are missing. Dental implants are ideal as they have a natural tooth look for your smile! Call us on (03) 5997 1280 to find out more and start your journey to dental implants today.

08.01.2022 Healthy Halloween !! Halloween is here! Although this year for Halloween we won’t be trick or treating, we will still be munching on sweets. Therefore you can't stop looking after your teeth, here are a few quick simple tips for your teeth this Halloween - Make sure to wash out your mouth with water after enjoying a sweet and continue to brush and floss twice a day to avoid decay. ... - Avoid sticky and hard sweets like caramel, minties and lollipops. Especially avoid these sorts of sweets if you have braces! - Eat your treats with or shortly after a meal, you produce more salvia when eating a meal and this will help to wash away bacteria. - Change it up! This year has been all about changes, so instead of having lollies why not try some new healthy Halloween snacks? Below we have attached a fun yet simple healthy Halloween recipe for you to try this year! Rather than sweets, try healthy Halloween Jack o Lanterns, you only need medium sized oranges and mixed fruits of your choice! 1. Start off by slicing the top of the oranges off. 2. Scoop out the pulp of each orange using a spoon. 3. Cut out faces on each of your oranges to look like a Jack o Lantern. 4. Now fill each orange with your choice of fruits and enjoy your healthy Halloween snack!

03.01.2022 Do you feel anxious when coming to visit the dentist? Whether it is yourself or somebody you know of, there are many of us who feel overwhelmed and anxious when having to visit the dentist. Here are some simple quick tips to hopefully make your dental visit less challenging:... Bring your own music or podcast to listen to while getting your dental treatment done, to help distract you. Ask a supportive family member or friend to come along to your appointment with you. Know that your dentist is wanting the best care for you always and wants to make your visit calming and gentle as possible, therefore try sharing your fears with your dentist so they can adapt to your needs. Try to book your visit for early in the morning! This way your appointment is done and out of the way early, therefore you can enjoy the rest of your day instead of worrying about having to visit the dentist! Finally, make sure you eat before your dental visit. Avoid sugary foods and coffee, instead have high protein foods before your visit, but be sure to brush and floss after you have eaten! For any of your dental needs please contact us on 5997 1280 or visit our website https://www.kooweerup-dental.com.au/ Our friendly reception staff are available from 8am to assist you with any enquiries.

01.01.2022 Due to a constant stream of patient inquiries, we thought we would take a moment to provide some information on what the recent Level 3 restrictions mean for us. This situation is everchanging, but currently, we can still provide ALL dental treatments to our patients. Dental Services are considered essential; therefore, so long as you feel well, an...d have not been in contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19, we are more than happy to see you! If required, we can always provide you a certificate of attendance to confirm your reason for being out and about. We would also like to acknowledge that there may be some patients who don’t feel comfortable attending their appointments right now. We understand that. Please don’t hesitate to call and discuss your individual circumstances with us. We will advise and support you as best we can. We would also like to once again reassure you that we are taking every precaution to ensure that we keep our patients and staff safe. We wish all of you safe and well at this trying time, and look forward to seeing you soon! See more
