24.01.2022 The Museum will be open on Sunday March 21 from 1.30pm - 4.30pm. At the moment we plan to open the first and third Sundays of the month or by appointment. Of course, you may remember that we opened twice last year after being closed for over two years due to renovations and then we had to close for Covid - so let's hope this year pans out better than 2020.

22.01.2022 This dramatic truck fire occured in early February 1967. The J-Model Bedford was delivering fuel to Aub Goodman's farm on Pitt Road in Vervale and it just caught on fire. There were two 44 gallon drums of petrol on the back, which went up first, then the two tanks of diesel caught fire. The driver, Bill McCutcheon of Nar Nar Goon, escaped without injury. The truck was owned by I.A. Williams of Koo Wee Rup. Photos were taken by Jim Rouse and Frank Rouse.

22.01.2022 This is the mallow plant at our Museum. Our Museum is named Mallow. It was built by John Colvin for his newly married daughter, Margaret, who married Les O’Riordan in August 1918. Les, born August 1892, is said to have been the first white child born in the Koo Wee Rup Village settlement. His father, John O’Riordan, opened a store in the town in 1890 - it was a tin shed at the rear of what is now Light’s garage. Les’ mother, Elizabeth O’Callaghan, had been born in the town of Mallow, County Cork, Ireland, hence the name of the property.
