23.01.2022 Sun rise off Gap Beach

22.01.2022 I went for a walk looking for native flowers. Here are pics (not very good sorry) of a duck orchid and some pink orchids. The bush is in bloom all over here.

21.01.2022 Hat Head is home to many beautiful birds. My favourites are the Jabirus which look like dinosaurs. The chicks especially look funny in their fluffly stage. I have not got a picture of the Jabirus yet, but here is a picture of Brolgas taken by my friend and neighbour Betty.

20.01.2022 A perfect day for headland walking. The track along the headlands from Gap Beach to Hungry Head have been tidied up so it is easy walking. It takes about an hour, but most people stop off at Connors and Third Beach to see the sights. Hungry Head provides great Whale watching, where I have seen the whales right next to the headland cliff.

20.01.2022 When the ocean is wild and waves are big, I am thankful I have the tranquil waters of the creek on my doorstep.

17.01.2022 I am so lucky to have this beautiful creek at my front gate, where the video was taken 18 months ago. Look closely and you can see the dolphin catch a fish. I was in the water as were many of my friends. I have managed to be swimming a few times when the dolphins come past. ... There are also sea turtles in there at times. Not to mention all the fish and pelicans.

17.01.2022 Pictures for Pete and Ella, The view from front door looking across driveway to campfire and al fresco dining table. Pic 2 taken from covered BBQ area looking towards the Palm trees. Pic 3 taken from covered BBQ area looking west.

17.01.2022 The creek looking good with a few pelicans thrown in for good measure.

16.01.2022 Black fish caught by Greg in the creek across the road today. So many to share with friends and neighbours.

15.01.2022 Our lovely guests left bread for the Happy Hens. A flock of lorikeets invited themselves to the party. My hens were a bit intimidates ... those things HOP. So I gave the lorikeets some bread of their own.

14.01.2022 Third Beach Hat Head. There is a rocky island to explore, with rock pools. I have seen fish and octopus in the pools.

14.01.2022 More of Charlies pictures, she has an eye for the beuaty in small things. I love her pics of the flowers from our headlands here.

14.01.2022 This is Charlie, she took some of the amazing pics you see on this page.

14.01.2022 The creek is perfect for paddling a kayak. At Brahminy Retreat we have kayaks for guests to use. At high tide when the water is clear you can see all teh wonderful fish in the creek.

14.01.2022 This pic was taken on the track down to the island off Hat Head.

13.01.2022 Theyre back. The big male kangaroos are making their presence felt once again. The young mums have small babies in their pouches. They are really cute.

12.01.2022 We call this the pirate beach. It has a complex cave that links a very secluded beach to North Point Plomer beach. However you can only get through at low tide and during a gentle swell. Definitely worth a visit ... it is South of Crescent Head.

12.01.2022 Zac Rudge is so talented. Here is a short film he made of Hat Head.

09.01.2022 This is a great Photo taken through the Pirate Cave. What a great angle to capture the platform on which I caught my first Mullaway. The Rocky platform is joined to the mainland by a stone arch, it is a magic place with so much to see.

09.01.2022 The owls this year are a bit more elusive to photograph. I see them hunting at night but none have decided to pose in daylight this year. This picture was taken by my neighbour, Shirley, last year (It is a much more interesting picture than the one I took last year where the lone owl is pretending to be a stick sitting on a stick). Thanks Shirley.

09.01.2022 There are some really remote and beautiful coastal walks near Hat Head. This picture was taken by Charlie when they came to stay at Brahminy Retreat for the first time. There is a natural arch in the rocks if you look carefully.

09.01.2022 Kangaroos grazing on the lawn, a bit damp after some rain today.

08.01.2022 I love Kingfishers. I have been trying to get a picture of teh family that live up the creek but have not been successful. So here is a picture of one that is very similar.

07.01.2022 The Hat Head foot bridge across Korogoro Creek with The Hat behind.

07.01.2022 Korogoro Creek at low tide.

06.01.2022 Kangaroos mowing the lawn just before sunset today. (For Pete and Ella).

05.01.2022 A picture taken by Charlie on her walk around Korogoro Point Hat Head

05.01.2022 Greg Stoneham took these pics on April 16. We have had some great sunsets and he is a great photographer.

04.01.2022 During afternoon tea we were joined by one of the Butch family. Butch likes scones so we shared a few with him.

02.01.2022 Lovely to see them about near the creek.

02.01.2022 So many beaches to choose from.

02.01.2022 Some guests have visited Gregs place during their stay. It is a 30 minute drive form Hat Head. Today as Greg was driving down his driveway he spotted a Koala on the ground. By the time he stopped and got his phone working it had climbed a tree. It is not far from the house so from now on we will be keeping an eye out for Koalas. How special is that?

02.01.2022 This is another magic spot near Hat Head. The picture is taken from near Smokey Cape Light House which is at the Northern end of the Main Hat Head Beach.

01.01.2022 The covered BBQ area.

01.01.2022 The Kookaburras are everywhere at the moment.
