25.01.2022 Well whnau, another great day and even more so because it was the 10 year anniversary for Koroheke Golf Challenge. An awesome turn out with 58 players some originals that started 10 years ago and some who have joined our whnau only recently and what an awesome group of manuhiri we have and from all over the motu too. So many people to thank but first and foremost I want to thank each and every one of our players because without you there would be no Koroheke. To our committ...ee who ensure the running of each month is organised, the Raffles, the cards and carts, balls, collecting the money and organising catering and karaoke etc. Thank you Kapai Entertainment for catering and for Karaoke, both were a hit and your ringawera were awesome. To Ally who made 65 egg sandwhiches and 130 peanut brownies so everyone had smoko. Thank you Landon Waitoa, Ally and her brother Kevin for setting up the prizes and getting everyone off at the tee. Thanks goes out to Landon for donating the golf balls for the prizes. A huge thank you To Ally's sister inlaw Noela Brack who made and donated the cake for our anniversary, it was absolutely beautiful. Also a big thank you to Ruta Tumata who took all the photos of the day. And last but not least thank you to all your wives and husbands and friends that came along to enjoy the after party. 20.01.2022 Another awesome day on the greens and what a great feeling being back at Helensvale Golf Club. Our first winner for 2020 was none other than Lois Salas, who took out the Matty Pivac Memorial Trophy the month before. Congratulations Lois, well done mate! A huge thank you to Te Reo Amorangi for catering for us, awesome lunch guys. For those of you not knowing who Te Reo Amorangi are, they are a group (rpu) learning te reo mori. They are trying to raise money to send their kai...ako (teacher) to Melbourne to learn the delivery of Te Ataarangi which is a learning technique using coloured blocks (rkau) that the rpu have been learning in the last 4 months. The course runs over a 2 year period and their kaiako will attend 4 times a year, so thank you all so much for supporting them to help reach their goal. Because of Te Reo Amorangi, Te Ataarangi is coming to Brisbane and the Gold Coast, so keep your eyes and ears out if you're interested in learning. A big thank you goes out to Kapai Karaoke who came down to entertain us or visa versa, you entertain them. This will be a regular occurence so get ready to put your songs in next month. So Sad to hear of the passing of one of our members, Fred Henare. Paki & Lorraine passed on our condolences to his wife and children. Last but not least, thank you Helensvale Golf Course, Brett, Chris and the team, you guys rock! See you next month. Kia ora tatou Katoa! Ng mihi x See more

Well what a day was had by all for "The Matty Pivac Memorial Challenge" A smokey day out on the greens due to fires at Mt Cotton, but a blessing in disguise, it blocked the sun so it wasn't as hot as expected. Kei runga noa atu koutou! A special mention to Landon Waitoa who is battling with an illness at the moment and hasn't been able to play, but continually turns up to help us out every month as well as turning up to all the meetings.
