17.01.2022 Korumburra & District Historical Society is launching a new online project. Are you interested in Making History? We are inviting the community to help the Korumburra and District Historical Society make history. We have just launched our online blog and are inviting people to submit photographs and blog articles. You can submit historical photographs, photographs of historical sites or photographs taken now to record a moment in time. We welcome any subject, people, buildin...gs, or landscapes. We would also love to record this particular year in time, when we are all enduring the first worldwide pandemic in living memory. You could start a photo project on social distancing, signs on buildings, or people in face masks. You can write about what you have been going through during the pandemic. Together, it will make a fascinating record of this time in history for future generations in our region. All ages are welcome to submit! Creative submissions in other mediums, such as music or poetry, are also welcome. Submission details are on the webpage.

06.01.2022 #treasuresfromthecoalcreekcollection Furphy’s Farm Water Cart. This week’s treasure was a mainstay of rural and Agricultural life at the turn of the 20th centu...ry. Invented by John Furphy (1842 1920) who established the first blacksmith's shop in Shepparton in 1873, gradually expanding into iron works. By 1888, Furphy had the most extensive foundry in northern Victoria, which is still operated by his descendants. He won many prizes for his inventions, the most notable being the Furphy’s Farm Water Carrier which carried water to sheep and cattle and to fight fires. They were also used to cart drinking water to soldiers in Europe and the Middle East during WWI. At the Coal Creek Community Park and Museum, the Furphy is housed in building 24, the machinery shed. #southgippsland #korumburra #discoversouthgippsland #gippsland #exploresouthgippsland #victoria #australia #australiagram_vic #visitsouthgippsland #coalcreek #visitgippsland #visitkorumburra #visitvictoria #losttrades #historictrades #vintagevehicles #regionalvictoria #generalstore #horsedrawncarriage #horsedrawn #ANZAC #WWI
