25.01.2022 The 2021 TVI Online Poomsae Medal results.

25.01.2022 MEDIA RELEASE: AUSTRALIA AND OCEANIA TAEKWONDO GAJOK GAMES MARCH 2021 GOLD COAST World Taekwondo Oceania and Australian Taekwondo are thrilled to announce the h...osting of the inaugural 2021 Australian & Oceania Taekwondo Gajok Games to be held in March 2021. This event is brought about as a result of a partnership between Australian Taekwondo and World Taekwondo Oceania to bring to the Oceania Taekwondo Family a quality and fun for all event for all participants alike. The event will include Kyorugi, Poomsae and Para Taekwondo as well as a new mixed gender teams event. The exciting and innovative tournament will give Taekwondo participants the chance to showcase their skills as we bring our sport back into the public eye. Australian Taekwondo CEO Heather Garriock was pleased to announce the tournament, sighting it as the perfect chance for the Australian and Oceania taekwondo community to get together to move the sport forward. The Gajok Games will be a wonderful way for the sport to reinvigorate itself post COVID19, said Garriock. It also presents a great opportunity for Australian Taekwondo and World Taekwondo Oceania to come together to build our sport. The fun we will have at the event will help grow our sport even more. We have 50,000 participants in our sport and we want to showcase Taekwondo to the wider community to show them what a wonderful sport we have. World Taekwondo Oceania Secretary General Stuart Lee encouraged the taekwondo community to embrace the event as a chance to rebuild after a challenging year. The 2020 year has been difficult and challenging for everyone especially club owners and taekwondo students, said Lee. hopefully the covid year is nearly over and now is a great time to announce the jointly managed 2021 Australian & Oceania Taekwondo Gajok Games, Gajok meaning ‘family’ in Korean is very suitable moving forward in 2021. The event which is being organised and promoted by both Australian Taekwondo and World Taekwondo Oceania, will be a time to celebrate what is hopefully a healthy and prosperous 2021 for the entire taekwondo community. The Kyorugi, Poomsae and Para events will be open to many divisions from kids coloured belts to open black belts and with the introduction of the Mixed Team event should prove extremely exciting for all. This will be a worldwide open event but because of travel restrictions to Australia, it is expected that the majority of athletes will be from Australia and New Zealand. Consequently, it will not be a world ranked event for senior black belt competitors. Nonetheless, because it is the first major Taekwondo event of the 2021 calendar, it will be the first opportunity for competitors to compete in a Covid free environment for a very long time. It is a time for all clubs and families to get together to celebrate the new year on the sunny Gold Coast, QLD and as this event will be hosted around easter the opportunity is there for families to have their first holiday for a very long time. said Lee. More details of the event will be announced soon.
