17.01.2022 Approached by someone offering unusually cheap tax services or promising refunds that are too good to be true? Beware of unregistered preparers! Remember, only a registered tax agent can charge a fee to prepare and lodge your tax return. Last month an unregistered preparer from Sydney received a criminal conviction for dishonestly obtaining a financial advantage. Charging a $100 fee, he used the personal myGov credentials of 1,098 individuals to lodge tax returns on their behalf, redirecting some of the refunds into his own bank account: http://ow.ly/wh9z50xDQxA

08.01.2022 Bega Valley Shire Council has launched a MARKETING CAMPAIGN TO SUPPORT ECONOMY * From the fire recovery update, January 16 2020 Bega Valley Shire Council and the shire’ Economic Development group today convened a meeting of the region's business chambers and key industry reps including tourism. Business owners from Bermagui, Cobargo, Tathra, Bega, Pambula, Merimbula, and Eden all attended.... Kristy McBain - Mayor, Bega Valley Shire Council and Economic Development Manager Daniel Murphy announced $60,000 for marketing campaign aimed at stemming the flow of cancelled holiday bookings, and supporting a "buy local' philosophy. Those gathered spoke with emotion of the real impact bushfires and drought are having on families tied to each business. All concerned will meet weekly, with a shire wide approach seen as key to facing the challenges ahead as we develop strategies for the recovery of our business community.
