21.01.2022 Meguri Meguru is the title of this piece composed by Tadao Sawai, literally means "circle around", being performed by two masters, Satsu...ki Odamura and Noriko Tsuboi at rehearsal, it is not surprising they are totally in synch as their friendship goes back more than 25 years. Kazue Sawai wrote about this piece: Quote The following note was written by Tadao Sawai 3 months before he passed away. I can not stop thinking that the nuance of this piece carries the meaning of "reincarnation" as life goes round in circle: {I have always been happy, but I have to say goodbye. I wish I could spend more time with everyone but it can't be helped Good bye it has really been a wonderful life If there was such thing as "reincarnation" I would repeat this life all over again.} by Tadao Sawai
20.01.2022 Rehearsing for tonights gig tsubasa ni notte (on the wing) by Tadao Sawai
20.01.2022 Yes! We are on the Sydney Morning Herald’s one of the best events of the season as part of Soundlands: art music in the suburbs!! Get your tickets at: https://cb.city/soundlands "Satsuki Odamura Koto Ensemble, Bankstown Arts Centre, October 27... This is part of a brilliant new initiative to take creative music out of its inner-city bastions and into the suburbs specifically Bankstown, with a concert series on the last Sunday of each month. Satsuki Odamura's ensemble of kotos looks spectacular, with the ancient Japanese instruments ranging in size from five strings to the conventional 13 strings and on to the giant 17-string bass model. Odamura being Australia's foremost practitioner, this is the ideal way to discover a remarkable instrument that, played with beautifully balletic motion, generates a mostly delicate sound akin to harp, while the routine use of note-bending amplifies the music's sadness." Soundlands is supported by the Australia Council for the Arts
