25.01.2022 Kowanyama Sports and Recreation team attended the Deadly 3’s basketball competition in Cairns. The basketball competition is held annually in Edmonton for both Indigenous men and women and is run by Indigenous PCYC. Council was able to support a female and male team this year thanks to funding from the Department of Tourism, Innovation and Sport - Sport and Recreation Far North. The team had a great time and enjoyed networking with Indigenous sports and recreation officers from all over FNQ.
