01.01.2022 As a basic guide for teens I always recommend the following skin care guides. Gentle foaming cleanser 2 times a day. Granular exfoliant with a fine grain, anything with a course grain is too rough for face and can get clogged in pores. Course grain exfoliations are better suited for the body. There are plenty of good chemical exfoliants also suitable but that could be a whole other thread. ... I am a big fan of Toner to restore ph and remove any traces of excess dirt and make-up left after cleansing. You just need to make sure you are using a proper toner that is not going to dehydrate the skin. I also reccommend filling a travel spray bottle with half toner and half water to put in gym bags and give the skin a quick mist after any sporting activity to remove excess sweat from skin. With moisturiser I always like to take into account age of child. But as a general rule you want to use a lightweight non-comedogenic cream either for combination skin, or sensitive skin. SPF is a must especially if using any acids or sun sensitive medication for treating acne. Most sun damage is done before the age of 20. Water, water, and more water. Keeping the skin hydrated from the inside out is a must. It will also help to flush out unwanted toxins. I am not a fan of make-up wipes. I find that they just spread the make-up and dirt around and strip the skin of natural oils. They have a place when you are in pinch and not able to access water, but as a general rule I would not use them on a daily basis. Sheet Masks are all the rage and there is nothing wrong with them but you just need to make sure you are using proper ones for your skin type, and not dehydrating your skin. Always use on clean skin. The most important thing to remember is that breakouts are a normal part of growing up and everyone experiences different levels. There is no magic routine that works for everyone, what works for your friends may or may not work for you. I always reccommend seeing a professional to make sure what you are using is right for your skin and that you are using proper amounts of product as well. Here are some of my favourite products for young skin. Any questions or for ordering info please feel free to contact me.
