14.01.2022 Love this. I like to tell my clients that a letter doesn’t make a sound until it’s in a word. This is a great example of why!

04.01.2022 I love this! Shows just because a baby can’t yet speak it doesn’t mean they can’t have their turn in a conversation

11.12.2021 Happy Mother’s Day to all the wonderful mummies out there. Hope you’re having a lovely day

06.12.2021 I did not know this!

25.11.2021 Any of these taking place in your school? (Taken straight from the Five by Five website...) Indicators of poor practice:... 1. Slow teaching of letter sounds (eg. one letter a week). 2. Long lists of sight words to memorise learning a small number of words that are not easily decoded by ‘sight’ is fine (eg. you, said, I, was). 3. 'Home readers’ which are too difficult. Home readers should have no more than 1 in 10 unfamiliar words. 4. Home reading guidance that advises against ‘sounding out’ as a first strategy and recommends using pictures or context to guess the word. 5. No opportunities to expand vocabulary and comprehension using real books. Please see https://www.fivefromfive.org.au if you need some further info. It's a great site. And remember there's a free scope and sequence for early introduction of letters, sounds and sight words on the Pelican Talk website (under FREE tab).

14.11.2021 What is working memory? How to help kids with poor working memory? A really useful chart. Please share. This applies to teachers teaching anything to anyone...! This poster comes from a collaboration by speech and language & occupational therapists, educational psychologists and several hundred teachers co-producing in networks across @NAllianceScot

03.11.2021 This is a little bit of fun
