22.01.2022 #Repost @connectandgrowmum with @make_repost For these simple Mother’s/Grandmother’s Day process art cards you will need: Washable markers (dunno if ours are but they worked fine)... Coffee filter paper circles Water spray bottle 1. Tape down the filter papers onto other paper. 2. Show your child how to colour on the papers (we had a lot of lid putting on and off first). 3. Show your child how to spray them. I recommend not showing the bottle until this stage! 4. A good bit of water works best, which is fortunate because you will have trouble stopping them. 5. Watch the colours merge together. Sam liked this a lot. 6. They dry down paler (and I think nicer!) The idea behind process art with toddlers is that there’s no pressure to produce a particular image. It’s all about enjoying the process and the materials. In doing so you remove the pressure of pleasing you (remembering that praise can be pressure too) and allow them more satisfying creative joy For that reason I cut the flowers out and stuck them on the cards when Sam was asleep and showed him later. An alternative idea would be to stick them on the card with your toddler without cutting them, or say that they look like balloons!
